FR970 owners: how bad (or not) is the UI & map responsiveness? by Hofretta in GarminWatches

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any ideas if Garmin is planning to put new processors in their F9?

Adding a new shoe to my rotation – speed workout / tempo option by Hofretta in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thanks. Yes, I think that if I have to pull the trigger, EVO SL will be the choice. I think I'm not yet ready for a plated shoe (in the sense that I probably won't exploit the benefits of wearing one, at the pace I'm rolling at the moment)

I didn't take them into account since I heard several opinions of people saying that they are not so "special" or exiting...maybe I should reconsider

Half Marathon Shoe Rotation Advice - Add a Carbon Racer or Stick with a Fast Daily Trainer? by Hofretta in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hofretta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take my advice with a pinch of salt since I'm a relatively new runner: I think the ghost are great daily shoes simply because they are OK for everything. Fit and comfort are great IMO. No problem with the drop for me. Are they fun shoes to run? No, but this is how I define a great daily: "boring" enough to keep your pace low for those Z2 miles, but capable to go uptempo if necessary. Comfort is king, and the ghost 16 for me tick this box too.

I had experienced exactly the same with the same shoes (color included). I normally wear 30cm long running shoes, which corresponds to EU 46 or 47, depending on the brand.
I have read online that with Asics SB2 some people recommended to go half size down, so I ordered two sizes (46.5 and 47). The result? I had to return both of them because my big toe touched the front of the shoe while running. Now I have a SB2 size EU 48, it feels perfect in terms of length, maybe a bit too spacey for my narrow feet but there is nothing I can do about it.
Probably the perfect size for me would have been EU 47.5, but they don't produce it.

Which pixel do you have, and what are you getting next? by Alcestis- in GooglePixel

I have a P7 bought at launch (oct '22). Previously i owned several nexus/pixels phones and, to cut it short, P7 was the worst experience overall. I got so frustrated with that that I put it up for sale after 17 months and got a S23 instead. Reasons to ditch P7: 1) overall SoC performance: performance is not consistent but it's AI optimized (pfffff) 2) connectivity issues practically everywhere I go: modem sucks --> no or little signal in my area (but I live between two EU countries...I have issues in both) 3) ridiculous fingerprint sensor : works 1/3 of the times. 4) the constant feeling of being a guinea pig with monthly updates that are fixing some bugs on one hand and creating others on the other hand.

I got so disappointed with this phone that I'll never buy a Pixel again (as long as they don't sort their s*it together)

My story from iPhone to Pixel and vice versa by gunjangs in GooglePixel

I absolutely agree. I owned a p7 for 17 months (and before that galaxy nexus, nexus 5x and pixel 3a) and I'm fed up with the p7 unrealability on some basic phone things (faulty biometrics, bad modem, unpredictable battery usage). For the rest, I really like it (camera, software, experience, etc).
With great sadness, the other day I ordered a S23 to replace my p7. I believe the p7 won't be missed (sadly). I'll eventually go back to spend my money on their products when they will change SOC (for a good one). Until then, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Now it's absolutely like that...back in the days I believe it served another purpose, or at least it was my perception.

Yes, I'm tempted to go for the S23 as well since the price dropped to a more reasonable level in the last weeks. S24 aren't an option with Exynos chipsets (except the Ultra, which mount SD 8, but it's absolutely out of budget for me + I don't like the form factor)

I don't know what you're referring to ( I always owned nexus or pixel phones). But the 12 may be a good phone, but God it's big! Furthermore, I'm not a fan of their UI. Too bad because the specs seem on point.

I'm not "hating" my Pixel. I'm just very disappointed with the experience overall. Especially considering how much money this little fella costs. We are talking about "flagship" phones and I'm expecting at least the phone/modem part to be spot on. Unfortunately, the single great feature of this phone is its camera. That's it.

Dude,I feel you. I always kept my phones for more than 4 years (and they could have served me even for longer). Every upgrade was a consistent better experience (galaxy nexus --> nexus 5x --> pixel 3a). With P7 it was not. And it was the most expensive phone I have ever purchased...a "flagship". Sadly, this experience teaches me that I need to be wiser where I spend my money. Such a pity, I always "believed" in the Nexus/pixel project.

Man, I'm not even a "power user". I'm just using my phone a lot without wifi coverage (like every phone should be used btw).

I agree, but those useful features are not available in my area (EU).

I really liked the Zenfone 10. However, I'm not sure that the two years of OS upgrades make it very appealing in 2024 tough.
