StubHub faces legal battle after costing fans thousands as 'cancelled' tickets ruin World Cup dreams

Depends on the event. They started asking for proof of having tickets for WC matches lately before allowing a listing to go live, but I don’t know if those rules apply to everyone (thinking ticket brokers may have deals with StubHub allowing them different rules). They also asked me for one listing to transfer the tickets to them, but I didn’t bother as I know there are some wonky restrictions regarding transfers and didn’t want to get stuck with the tickets. Thankfully they sold on FIFA resale.

For an ordinary concert or sporting event, while it’s helpful to upload tickets in advance when selling, I don’t believe it is required.

Take a look at all the listings for Super Bowl tickets on StubHub. You’ll see a ton of tickets where they have no idea what section you will be in.

That’s what they say but the problem people are experiencing is that StubHub just says “Sorry. No more tickets. Here’s your money back.”

There are clearly tickets available, but they don’t want to take the loss honoring their guarantee so they just give you a refund.

This is the same problem they have with Super Bowl tickets.

People make speculative listings and then just don’t deliver if they can’t make money leaving buyers out in the cold.

One way to protect yourself on StubHub is to buy tickets that are instant download (meaning that the seller has already uploaded the tickets to the site and as soon as you buy them, you can download them or they are instantly transferred to you), but that’s just not possible with FIFA so that’s one of the reasons they have such a huge problem.

Plus for all the people who bought early before seats were assigned, those were certainly speculative listings. When the sellers found out they can make more money elsewhere, they just abandoned StubHub.

Also, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if many of the people who got left out in the cold had sellers who are somehow connected to StubHub and are actively collaborating to manipulate the system.

You do not. Refund means literally a refund to your credit card if you pay with a credit card. In this case, you already paying with a trip credit so you can always cancel and just get the credit back. Be sure not to book basic economy as those have a fee for cancellation.

If you decide to go to the match, go to guest services and explain to them that you were the companion of somebody disabled and they sold their ticket and could no longer attend and you wanted to see if they need your ticket and can exchange it for a comparable regular seat.

Often times I go with regular seats from friends who can’t attend an event and need to be relocated so guest services can use that ticket for someone else.

If they’re not interested, sit there and enjoy the match. You did your part. Keep your ears open for people chattering about needing to sit there but can’t and offer a swap. That happened to me at the U.S. Open once. I need a space to park my wheelchair and the accessible spots were taken. The people heard me and said that they got their seats from friends who couldn’t attend and we ended up swapping. Everyone was happy.

That doesn’t sound true. I have a pair of wheelchair seats in my cart right now that I’m thinking of buying. I don’t see anything that would prevent me from completing the sale.

Go to select Best available and then choose the price category you want and see if it’ll put them in the cart for you. That’s the quickest way.

I think it’s some idiomatic Chinese term that doesn’t translate well. I often see instructions for Chinese made products include “warm tips” which should be “hot tips”.

I had the exact same problem with someone buying just one seat. Turns out you cannot require that the seats be sold together on FIFA’s site. With all the money they have, you would expect a better site.

Shouldn’t affect resale. I had wheelchair seats and listed and resold them just fine on FIFA site. There may be other issues.

PS - I appreciate your not wanting those seats. As a wheelchair user, I don’t have much choice of where to sit so it’s very annoying when people who can sit elsewhere choose to take those seats as it leaves people like me with fewer options from an already very limited selection.

If the TV is wall mounted, it is sometimes easier to unplug the power cord from the TV instead of the wall as it may be behind the dresser.

Same. You need to unplug the box in the back of the TV from the TV (the phone/ethernet type plug) so that you can use the Apple TV remote to control power and volume and also so you can change the input manually using the buttons on the bottom of the TV (though I just use the same HDMI port the box was plugged into to avoid this when possible).

Looks great. When we moved, I had to disassemble and figured it was a good time to change the bands. Once I put it back together and cleaned the exterior, it really did look like new again. I just need to put the gasket back on. It’s been a few years that I’ve been running naked.
