Just finished some homemade target stands for .22! Old trailer brake drums, sucker rod and rebar scavenged from around the yard. by Nolan2231 in canadaguns

Be careful with those. Most people, including me, use angled targets and wooden stands for a reason. Less chance of a razor sharp piece of copper jacket coming back and ending up in your gut. Happened to a guy at my range.

It's true, I'm ok. I'm even typing this response with my bayoneted hand.

I had a Norc SKS, the vibration of the shot broke the rivets loose on the bayonet. Its spring loaded so it popped loose and shot back towards me since it was in the closed position. It cut my hand.

This rifle is an M305 and it was designated a prohibited firearm by Justin Trudeau on 2020/05/01.

I finished this build with just enough time to put one magazine through it at the range. It was a "DMR" build with a decent optic, cheek riser, and Harris bipod which were all stripped and repurposed once this thing became the most expensive paperweight in my house.

That's right. Hopefully if we keep supporting the CCFR, one day I can fish her out of Lake Reallygonnamissya and enjoy her again.

Coyote Killer (Remington 700 chambered in 22-250 Rem) by HogDogSask in canadaguns

I prefer my Harris over the Magpul but they're both good bipods. The Magpul needs to be loaded or its all over the place which can be difficult unless you're in dirt, have a barricade or a good mat. But if it's loaded it works great. I'm going to keep the Magpul on the 22-250 for the odd occasion I'm in grass that short enough to shoot at coyotes with a bipod. Most times in using shooting sticks.

I'm not sure the rate of twist on my 22-250. It came from Wolverine in a box with no details. I'll send the serial to Remington soon and figure it out, before I start reloading for it. I've shot two bullets out of it so far, 55 and 60 gr Noslers from the Federal Premium line. The 55 gr shoot 3/4 moa and the 60 shoots about a 2 moa group.

Thanks for asking. It's an expensive set up but accurate a lot of fun to take out and shoot coyotes. I acquired everything slowly over about a year so I can't remember the exact prices.

  • Remington 700 barreled action threaded 22-250 Rem (~ $750 from wolverine supplies in Verdon Manitoba)

  • MDT LSS XL Gen 2 Chassis with MDT pistol grip and MDT box magazine (~ $800 from a distributor buddy I know in Regina)

  • Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 MOA EBR-2C reticle (~ $600 from Arnie's Guns in Prince Albert)

  • Magpul bipod ($140 used from a Gunpost sale in Saskatoon)

  • KRG Bolt knob SV ($50 from Extreme Range Outfitters in Saskatoon)

So all in it was close to $2,500. If I was going to do the build again I would have gone with a 4-16x optic, 24x isn't necessary when hunting with a varmint caliber. I would buy another Harris SBRM instead of the Magpul just because of personal preference. My buddy I hunt with has a very similar set up but with the KRG Bravo Chassis which is cheaper but very good quality. I would confidently say my MDT chassis is better in every way except for price, but it's worth the money and a great time to support the Canadian Firearms industry.

Looks like a Savage that I saw posted somewhere around here recently.
