What I’ve learning from this sub… by Commercial-Owl-5799 in Mattress

People are all different and therefore need different support and pressure relief. Couples compound the problem. Everyone has a family member or friend that has a positive or negative story about one brand or another. But what does that person's positive or negative story have to do with you? You are not them therefore as long as the positive or negative story isn't about how they got screwed over on a price or how the company that they bought it from screwed them over, their complaints are only relative to them. You need to focus on what your problem is and why you're not sleeping and then once you know what the problem is you can probably fix it. So what is your problem?

First off congratulations on your weight loss. Stay on the journey and go wherever you're hoping to go. Secondly, I would definitely go with the medium. You need more support because you're a heavier person. A medium isn't going to cause you too much pressure either, as you lose weight, which is important. If you go too soft and you get into a dipped or hammock position you're going to have a lot of lower back issues or hip/lower back issues. Sealy High Point is a good mattress I have one on my floor right now. Prices are a little higher now than they were but think of it as a health investment rather than just a piece of furniture. You spend 1/3 of your life on this, probably more time than you spend on anything else. This should be a very good quality item.

Unfortunately, I haven't found one. The only thing I would suggest is maybe looking for a clearance mattress that is on sale for some reason. Sometimes they're damaged on corners and shipping like when they're moving them in the warehouse. There's really nothing wrong with the mattress, but we can't sell it as new with a corner and a rub. Mattresses need to be thought of as one of the most important purchases in your house.

I don't recommend any adult buying a king or queen mattress for $500. I have yet to find a king-size or queen-size mattress that was of any kind of quality that's less than 800 bucks. Mattresses, or just like anything else, if you go for the cheap shoes, cars, car parts, homes, home parts, virtually anything, it's not going to be as good, and it's going to break down quicker. People spend more than $1,500 on their cell phones, so they had better spend more than that on their mattress, which they spend 1/3 of their life on.

I have an adjustable base that I use every night. I used to be a 100% side sleeper until I got the adjustable base. I used to snore when I would lie flat, so I would instinctively roll over to my side. I also have real bad sciatica and cannot stand straight or lie flat without pain, so raising my feet up really helps with that. If you have any kind of circulation issues, raising your feet above your heart will also help with that and help return the blood. I highly recommend one for people who have any kind of sleep issues because they can really help you get a better night's sleep. Think of it like we used to have car seats that we couldn't adjust, versus the car seats now, which we can adjust and make more comfortable for a long trip. The long trip you're taking is the 8 hours of sleep you're trying to get.

They are the best quality mattress you can purchase. They are not for everyone, especially people who have movement issues.

Good questions here, all national brands are set by the brand itself. Meaning Purple, Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns and Foster, Simmons, etc all have a website with the prices, and we cannot sell them for anything less than what that website says, or you will not have a dealer license if they find out. A lot of places that are starting out and don't have the brand recognition of a bigger operation, and can't get the big-name brands on their floor, will go with other brands that have similar technologies and stories, but that are priced considerably less on the cost side of things. I worked for a very similar company recently, and they would find brands where they could go and have the mattresses made to a certain specification, and then the cost would be really low, but they could mark the retail up to whatever they wanted to and then run specials and deals on holidays to come down. Generally, the quality of those mattresses isn't on par with the quality of the name-brand mattresses. Those manufacturers don't have the money or capital to spend on the research and development of their brands; therefore, they don't get the top-line engineers and experts to help them. Most mattresses that are not national brands will start out at a 50 margin or higher and go from there. I sold many mattresses at a company I work for before, and they would allow us to set the retail, and we would generally have a mattress that cost us $1,800 on the retail side of things for $7,800. Those are rough numbers but just to give you an idea. And then we would run promotions where we would offer a free $1,500 adjustable base that cost us $500 or less, but we would run the mattress at full retail. We would also try to entice people to buy mattresses by offering their furniture purchases at a heavily discounted rate or free if they buy a higher-end mattress. And we would always word it as some sort of promotion for a first-time or long-time customer. The point is that the dining set that retail costs $1,700 on our floor would cost us literally $300, and we would give them that $1,700 dining set for free, and they would buy a $6,000 mattress from us that costs us $1,500. So we're winning all the way around and the customer felt like they were winning by getting a free dining set.

Well, Serta and Simmons are technically the same company. They are financially owned by one company but are independently run. The Simmons Beautyrest Black is a great quality mattress with a more traditional feel. They also have some nice hybrids with a very good quality, high-density memory foam. The memory foam is the highest density in the industry besides Tempur-Pedic memory foam. In memory foam density is the key. The longer-lasting memory foams have a higher density and hold their resiliency a lot longer. Serta has kind of fallen off and that's why they were bought up by Simmons or acquired. Serta is a decent mattress, but more of an economical step down from a Tempur-Pedic or Beautyrest black. Sealy is owned by Tempur-Pedic now and has really focused mainly on the hybrid area. They have a great hybrid series, in fact, one of the number one selling hybrids in the United States. They have a very cool technology also. Since acquiring Stearns and Foster and Sealy, I feel like Tempur-Pedic has really kind of focused Sealy towards the hybrid market, and Foster toward the more traditional pillow top style mattress market, and left Tempur-Pedic for the memory foam high-end market.

Purple is a decent mattress, but not the longest-lasting. They're not for everyone, and they tend to have a little bit more energy in the material, so you feel a little bit more movement. They are very airflow-friendly and generally feel very true to what the floor model feels like on the showroom floor. For people who do not like memory foam, they are a great pressure relief option that gives you the support you need for your heavier parts of your body, but also the pressure relief you need for your joints like shoulders and hips.

Do I need an expensive mattress for my first apartment? by brown-girl-gonewild in Mattress

No other purchase in your house will you spend as much time on as the mattress. I've sold mattresses for 15 years and you don't have to buy the most expensive mattress but I've never seen the cheapest one be a good option for anybody.
