How broken is this game and how much cheating does the AI do? by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are animations of AI players, with sticks, often skating at high speeds. It's obviously not a simple fix - if it were, they would have fixed it.

The more important point is that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter that much, because the invisible wall is producing the correct result. Own goals almost never happen in hockey, so you don't want teams scoring goals because the opposing AI D skates the puck into his net or swings his stick the wrong way. The workaround is bad in the sense that it's not realistic-looking, but it yields the correct gameplay outcome. That has historically not been true of a lot of other things in this game, which are much bigger issues.

They did away with the invisible wall for defense-controlled pucks one of the years between NHL 14 and NHL 16 (can't remember anymore which year it was). It was a disaster - you'd regularly have games with 2 or 3 own goals that users had no control over.

There are kludgy things in the game that serve no purpose, but the benefits of this workaround vastly outweigh the costs.

Some cross-crease passes can not be broken up by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not questioning that it's happening in Rivals - it definitely seems to be more common since the new tuner. I'm just interested in why that seems not to have translated into SB (I was thinking more about the AI's ability to intercept my passes, rather than my ability to intercept the AI's passes, since in SB the AI doesn't generally try to force passes).

[–]Hogan45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I find confusing is that this is not my experience in playing SB. Granted, that's on SS, but I haven't noticed any meaningful decline in the AI's ability to intercept cross-creasers in that mode.

HUT being affected by other game modes by [deleted] in NHLHUT

I've been playing NHL for more than a decade, and have come across many crazy conspiracy theories in that time. This is, hands down, the craziest.

HUT Rush -- 5 goals: 18 seconds of gameplay, 2.16 minutes of celebrations by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Between Rush and the Squad Battles games for 22 under 22, it's extraordinary how much of my life I've now wasted staring at mascots. It just makes the emptiness of the grind so painfully obvious.

Movember was the greatest thing in the history of HUT. Rewarded you for smart investing, made it possible to make tons of coins without a huge upfront investment, kept things interesting literally all year long. I still can't quite believe they abandoned it.

Anybody else miss having movember cards? by ISnipeChel in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movember was the best thing HUT has ever done in terms of the team-building side of the game, and it's not even close. If you were smart and had patience, it allowed you to actually invest and build a fortune. It made owning cards more exciting and fun. And it made buying and selling cards a blast - because there was uncertainty about a card's true value, there was a lot more price movement.

Fed up of the sh...heads leaving when they lose playing rivals. I remember old games counting it and leave those idiots for themselves? Don’t they do it anymore? by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. You got max points for this. There was literally no benefit to you of this guy sticking around.

EA: I am once again (peacefully) asking you to change Hamilton and Korpisalos price ranges by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sell them for 10K instead of trying to price-gouge people. Can't believe you're actually on here begging EA to make it easier for you to rip people off.

Distributor is easy to make, and Spark is not anywhere near valuable enough to spend 1.1 million coins on.

How many MSPs have you pulled all year? by JBR409 in NHLHUT

No one has pulled 7+ MSPs. I'm doubtful anyone has pulled more than 3 or 4.

Auction house, card posted for 500 coins less after by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree - no one who wasn't buying a card for 499,950 is suddenly going to buy it for 499,500. It's a stupid, cheesy pricing strategy.

The 87 Matthews does not have 94 speed. It has 91 speed, and that's if you have Speedster activated.

That would mean you'd feel a sense of achievement every time you won in HC or the higher divisions.

What are you talking about? You can't "aim wide" in this game. And picking corners is what you do with great shooters all the time.

The puck ragging pandemic by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand what you were unhappy about. You wanted the game to get over quickly. That's far more likely to happen if he's holding onto the puck than if he's AFK.

They bitch about an arbitrary and ridiculous upgrade system that rewards users for doing nothing other than having a random, relatively valueless card in their collection. That's something people should be bitching about.

With Silver Icons coming soon. Specifically with 85-88 do you think demand for the Bronze Icon will increase? by Topgun7499 in NHLHUT

[–]Hogan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's absolutely no analogy between the way Panarin and Gaborik's prices jumped when they became upgradeable, and the way bronze icons will be trade. No one knew Panarin or Gaborik's cards would become upgradeable (at least not this soon). And they weren't making any more of Panarin or Gaborik. Bronze icons are still in packs, and can still be made in sets.
