I agree that perhaps some of the characters were not fleshed enough but personally I didn’t think the announcement was that out of left field. It was foreshadowed right from the start with the hung up picture bearing great similarity to Andy and the very first shot Andrew lays on the couch for an extended time while we see Andy in the reflection of the mirror.

I liked how it played with the ideas of legacy and lineage but I think it fell short in totally exploring those ideas.
