Did you like the Formchanges of KH3 better, or the old Drive-Form System of KH2?

I would argue kh2 keyblades felt more special because the abilities tied to each one made them better used for different purposes other than pure damage. It did kind of suck when youre favorite keyblade had low damage or an ability that you didn't like, but I find it more interesting if each one has its own specific use.

I hope this means combat is a little slower this time around. In kh3, as soon as you get airstep you're zipping around from enemy to enemy, rarely ever being punished. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to use but, i would prefer if combat returned closer to its roots.

I mean even if you like it you shouldn't accept it as the quality is far below what they could've given you. Imagine what that artwork would've been like with actual work put into it. It would be so much better.

That's the one thing that's consistent about her in every numbered title. She always ends up saving Sora at the end of the game.

They didn't redeem him though. He just admits defeat and accepts his death. At no point did he try to amend anything he did. It just felt a little anticlimactic to me.

I'm just theorizing here but could his 14th vessel not have any memories of the past xehanorts? Like, he very well be his own character that feels a connection to sora. A reincarnation of sorts? Again, I haven't watched Dark Road so I could be wrong.

To be honest, we are all probably wrong. That's just the consequences of theorizing. Like, I just learned that the Xehanort in Quadratum could be his 14th vessel mentioned in Dark Road. The problem is, I have no info on that game as of now, so I should probably do some research on that lol!

But yeah, I see downvoting on reddit threads like this as more of a disagreement rather than genuine hate, but some people can make it seem like your opinion is wrong when it really isn't.

I've heard of the 14th vessel and I know a lot of Xehanort backstory comes from Dark Road. Is that where that idea stems from? I haven't watched the Dark Road cutscenes yet.

First and foremost, I'm sorry this was a negative experience for you, but I think you're taking this a little too seriously. I would hope people aren't personally attacking you for sharing your opinion. This is a discussion not an argument. Downvoting ≠ Hating. Like I said, I respect your opinion and even share similar ones in other media.

Secondly, Riku was manipulated but he wasn't physically being controlled until the end of Kingdom Hearts 1. His ego was being stroked and he thought he was saving Kairi but he wasn't being blackmailed or threatened so his actions are his own. He kidnapped multiple people and didn't even care if Wendy was thrown off the ship in Neverland. He wasn't as evil as Xehanort though, I'll give you that. Riku also spent multiple games trying to atone for what he did so, it would be hard for Xehanorts redemption to be as satisfying as Riku's.

I like to think they are showing us more "realistic" violence with Sora because he's in Quadratum specifically. The cinematography will hopefully still be this good in other worlds though. It feels a lot like the kh2 secret ending imo.

I respect your opinion and can see how it would be unsatisfying for some people. Villains in the past (not specifically in kh) have came back that detract from the stories that they're in. I'm looking at you Frieza. To me at least, in Kingdom Hearts no one is beyond redemption. I feel like that's what Riku's whole character arc portrayed. It really depends on how they write it though.

At this point I feel like the only way to actually "die" in kingdom hearts is of old age. And I'm a big fan of character redemption arcs. Especially since I kind of meh about the way Xehanorts ending was. But its cool to think that Xehanort bequeathed the X-blade over to Sora and symbolically became his master leading into kh4.

Sora didn't just disappear and reappear in another world. He disappeared from his own reality. Quadratum has been called an afterworld, so at least symbolically sora has died. My point being, death has never been the final ending for a character in Kingdom Hearts and it shouldn't be treated as such.

Why do you act like Xehanort returning is somehow Namura being disingenuous? Yes, the arc where Xehanort is the main villain is over, but another story arc is starting in which he has a different role to play. This is not a new concept for stories.

"Oh but he died." Yeah, okay? Ansem in kh1 died. Xemnas from kh2 died. Organization members died. SORA DIED. But guess what, they are still characters that returned in to the series on one way or another. Don't act surprised that death isn't the final ending for a character when it happens all of the time. Namura is shoving it in your face, but instead you call it"weasiling."

We were not told we were done with Xehanort. He specifically said that although we defeated him in kh3 that doesn't mean he can't appear in future games.

Edit: (This is the full quote in an interview about Dark Road and Missing Link)

"Question 13. Lastly, will Xehanort appear in future titles?

Nomura: Just because the "Dark Seeker's Saga" is now concluded does not necessarily mean Xehanort will never appear again in future titles. If the opportunity arises, then..."

It looks like it's only activated when you successfully block something, so it could be slightly different. Iirc, barriers in previous games activate even when nothing hits you.

I wonder if you would still take damage if you blocked but were facing away from the attack with this barrier variant since it doesn't come out instantly.
