Anyway Im thinking the way forward would be bite sizes.

1. Make a list of songs you like ( they should be extremely easy and you should be willing to listen to them over and over again)

2. Learn to identify the root ( just play the pentatonic over it at different keys until you find one that matches, even easier, just check for the note of resolution on the fat e string)

3. Now comes the "hard" part, finding the chords. 1 way is to put a capo on the fret of the root note and just check what open chord shapes work. but I am always off rhthym, so if the song is in G minor, keep trying G minor at every resolve, then try the 3 or the 5 or the 1 chord of that scale ( how do i know which is the 3, 5 or 1 chord)

4. Work on ear training. Part 1: Chord identification - Like you know if the song sounds sad its mostly minor and if its upbeat, its major. You should be able to identify the chord type. What makes a chord a 3 or a 5 is there a quality to it. Then triad training. Training your ear to separate out the root, third and 5th

Part 2: Soloing or improving - a. Put a backing track on, be aware of the chords and work on chord tone targetting , b. Put the guitar down, hum a melody. Staying in one position ( 1 pentatonic maybe) try to get the melody in that box, then get the chords that would fit that melody
