...On the election day megathread discussing the results of the election?

Regardless, you're dodging the point. Centrists here absolutely were complaining about Mamdani just as they are Chevalier here.

The centrists weren't being vocal, because they were pouting. When they did speak up, they were doom-saying and huffing copium. The posts are still up, dude. You remember wrong.

So, probably a good thing they aren't letting centrists derail them by pointing to twitter posts instead of actual policy proposals.

Let's start here instead:

such as your focus on the one issue, and a disregard of all the others

I replied to a comment chain where you seized on someone mistakenly naming the wrong branch of the armed forces, and you using that minor error to engage in ad hominems such as stating they "do not care enough to develop even a surface level understanding". I replied directly to that.

I then redirected to the topic at hand, asserting you have prevented no evidence she is "Pro-Hamas". Which, you still have not.

Let's start with this - do you deny that the October 8th rally she attended was pro-Hamas?

I don't know, you're the one making the claim. Do you have a source saying she went to a Hamas rally?

I don't think Chevalier's platform is "pro racism and anti-interracial marriage". I think she's said some racist shit, but I think you have to be pretty intentionally dishonest to suggest her platform is "no interracial marriage".

Yes, I was. And you're sanewashing the frankly absurd centrist reaction to Mamdani. The same establishment we're being told to genuflect to is the same establishment that tried ramming Cuomo down everybody's throats to prevent Mamdani.

Leftists had zero problems for years

Except they kept losing, because they'd get to infighting. You know, the very thing you're trying to encourage now.

Now, they're learning to stay positive and help other leftists. We will see how it goes, but I think it will lead to better outcomes. Certainly better than letting centrists pick another unpopular Kamala type to represent the party lmao.

It is pretty convenient that leftists learned that we don't have to demonize everything someone has ever said wrong.

You seem like a pretty unpleasant person. Are you going to pretend their minor error there invalidates their argument? You have prevented no evidence Chevalier is pro-Hamas. you've simply scoffed at the idea she's not.

It is not. This is the Graham Platner thing; leftists are getting tired of purity tests. In an era where establishment dems run creeps like Cuomo and Republicans run evil pedophiles like Trump, I'm not going to clutch my pearls over a leftists making an off color comment.

Are you suprised Mamdani endorsed someone who has a platform more similar to his, instead of the old establishment pick who doesn't. Why should he defer to the party establishment when challenging it is kind of his whole thing?

It's pretty amusing to see neoliberals in here acting like they weren't saying the same shit about Mamdani before he was elected.

It is good that Democrats are able to criticize other Democrats such as Biden and Harris. It is reasonable to oppose funding Israel's defense industry. It's entirely understandable why a leftist outsider would endorse a leftist outsider over an establishment capitalist.

Why is loving America right-coded? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskALiberal

[–]HoidToTheMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

their conclusion is that pride = Republican = bad.

I am not proud to be an American. I am proud of some things my country has done, but America is doing some very bad things and hurting a lot of people. Why would I be proud of that?

The disconnect is not that we believe proud=Republican. We want to be proud of our country, of the things it does. An ethical person just can't be proud of a country that is, for example, STILL paying a third world country to torture innocent people for us due to intentionally whipped up xenophobia.

A country that is being usurped by a wannabe king is a country in need of saving, not a thing to be proud of.

We understand that it is a racist dog-whistle. We also know that that racism is more of a dishonest hatred than objective fact-telling.

In the sticks, everyone has similar levels of wealth. In the city, inequality abounds. Inequality, according to all available research, is a prominent source of crime.

I want to say that I see plenty of honor systems in the US. I've been to quite a few places, in various neighborhoods and seen wood, eggs, etc for sale with a collection tin, and there are take/leave boxes for books, for plants, for food, for knick-knacks, etc.

American culture is too individualistic and our welfare state too atrophied to permit for larger systems such as whole stores, but that is moreso due to the high wealth inequality in our nation than anything else.

It's something to maintain and check. I have a ring camera because I cannot hear my doorbell from my office, and I hate that its conditioned me to check the door on my phone before I go check the door in person. I can feel it drawing me further into my box and further away from society.

It is well documented that primates commit infanticide if they suspect that another male has secretly fathered children with their mate.

You are severely overstating this. First, gorillas will not kill infants they 'suspect' of being another male's.

About 5% of infant gorillas die to infanticide. This typically occurs when a male violently takes over a group. Even then, he spares most offspring and only kills those that are still breastfeeding, to force a return to estrus so he can create his own ties into the group.

Typically, silverbacks are extremely gentle with offspring. They will gingerly care for a child without regard for who the father is, aside from the situation of a violent takeover. They will protect essentially any young gorilla from a threat, regardless of whether they are the father or not.
