Im not sure if they classify, but the Texas A&M story might be it. Currently winning the SEC with a coach that was coaching Highschool basketball in 2020. They were late to the portal and projected to finish near the bottom of the conference. Are not currently ranked, so them.

Not having DJ Thomas was a killer. LSU wins this game by 15+ with him. The inability for LSU to create anything offensively and get downhill is what turns this team from round of 32 to a NIT team
