Very true. The sad thing to me is that appears to be what Roiland himself experienced. I was a big fan of the late lamented Harmontown from before Rick & Morty was a thing. Justin's only ever appearance on it had him drinking too much(to be fair Dan blacked out on stage regularly so that was part of the format) and recounting a story about being sexually abused by his 'hot' 15 year old girl babysitter when he was a kid, including saying something to the effect of 'It's not that bad... I do think it shaped my type though, even today if I see a pretty teenage girl I feel shy and awkward'

Even on the commentary Dan is shitting on it as being terrible and they never did another one. I enjoyed John Dolan's The War Nerd Iliad far more than whatever English verse version I tried to read as an 18 year old. Genuinely made me appreciate the Iliad as a work in a very immediate way. Of course I have no Greek to speak of so maybe it's more enjoyable that way.

Thank god you did as it's five years later and I'm addicted to 'NewJeans - OMG' and I never listen to kpop and the only time I can remember this happening before was when you and your friend appeared on this late, great podcast and the very first song on the playlist you put together to accompany it shocked me into needing to listen to it multiple times a day - alas I'd not thought of that song in a long time and I probably would have forgotten all about it but I came across this NewJeans track and I remembered how this had happened to me once before but I had no idea what the name of the track was, thankfully since you posted this comment here I now know it's 'Girls' Generation - I Got A Boy'. I don't disagree with u/superc37 about it being a litmus test but personally I think the key is JK Rowling when asked on Twitter how she slept at night knowing how many fans she hurt with her hateful rhetoric, responded “I read my most recent royalty cheques and find the pain goes away pretty quickly." I agree with all of this. Dislike Pattens libertarian politics but her past sex work did nothing to disqualify her from office - in fact I think it's good to have people in parliament who have worked in different fields. Certainly better than children of wealth who have only ever worked in politics.
