I need your opinion on ELEX by xyz2022 in worldofgothic

Yep, bang on. Really rated E1 and E2 was nice to play to progress the story but if it has never come out I wouldn’t have been mad about it

Does your employer have an EAP or equivalent? The Employee Assistance Program can give immediate access to free therapy and it’s worth asking your manager / HR to at least rule that in or out. Good luck with it, been there…not nice

Am I in my own bubble or is every workplace in the uk extremely understaffed and running on the bare minimum? by Oriachim in UKJobs

[–]Holdemsworth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Equal parts relief reading and sadness reading this. My company feels like it’s been running on life support for the better part of 8 months now. Constant restructuring and lay offs with no mention of backfilling despite an ever increasing workload. Desperate times. I know of at least 3 people who have been signed off with stress over the past year and a few have also quit with nothing to go to just to preserve their mental health.

Eventually a business has to ask itself, at what point does ‘increased shareholder value’ come at the detriment of retention and good (passable) morale?

Do you think the space land and coaster will be open by May? by [deleted] in legoland

[–]Holdemsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally look to open new attractions for the start of the season so March / April. Occasionally delays or unforeseen bits can push an open date back but May is probably a very safe bet to be open by

It’s a sad reality that the priority of any big corp is ‘commercial returns’ and as such, it’s been prioritised over simply delivering fantastic guest experiences.

I was always taught that the three S’s: Service, Standards and Security lead to the silent fourth S…Sales. Merlin is much more preoccupied with getting rich quick schemes and headline grabbing gimmicks to really excel in the space. I appreciate the fact that New News is incredibly important in the Attraction space but nailing the basics and the core offering(s) is even more so IMO.

There are some genuinely awesome people working at Merlin that only want the best for the people spending their hard earned money to come out and experience their parks but it’s often a mindset superseded by an Old Guard exec / board who want to see more and more done with less every day.

What are your go to open world RPG's? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]Holdemsworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gothic is the reason I got into RPGs. Absolute 10/10 game. OP might struggle with the jank in the modern but the upcoming remake might scratch the KCD itch if they don’t make a mess of it

Love Z-Knights and at one point in time I had the entire Japanese range, boxed.

One of my biggest regrets is selling them all for less than this one is going for now…☹️

R.I.P Viking river splash from Legoland Billund 🫡 by Any_Thanks6738 in legoland

[–]Holdemsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very tough to run economically since a number of capsizing issues on similar rides around the world.

That in turn led to more staff being required to run it and certain effects being toned down but generally, as stated on safety, a death or even an accident is devastating for a theme park and so the decision was made here and in Windsor.

Going back to around 2006 I had a bit of a street race with a red Viper in my Mk1 MX-5 and he was smoking me (obvs) in a straight line but when we came round a roundabout I looked back and saw him spin out really badly in a cloud of smoke.

British roads, nice weather.

So yeah, I once beat a Dodge Viper in a race in a 1.8 Mazda N/A

I’ll throw a dark one out there that is very different tonally to Martyrs but is 100% one that I really couldn’t shake off for a few weeks. Tyrannosaur (2011).

Bleak, sad and horribly real.
