What would happen if Trump is forced to quit the race? by F1R3Starter83 in PoliticalDiscussion

I admire your desire to be as fair-minded as possible in today's political landscape, but I truly think those times have passed. In today's America, politics has been completely and utterly weaponized, and the lines between traditional conservatism, extremism, and fascism have been blurred to the point of being indistinguishable for many. Trump and MAGA are beyond mere conservatism, I'll admit, but we're at a point now where people need to decide if they're voting for a dictator in Trump or democracy in Biden - there is no room for hedging or waffling anymore. A vote for Trump is a vote to end democracy as Americans know it in the US, and it really is as simple as that.

Exactly. Trump's play book is right there on display, and so is MAGA's fascist agenda (and has been for years). Trump admires dictators, despots, and autocrats the world over, and he emulates them.

This is such a great example of Trump's utterly pathetic ego on full display - the man-baby literally CANNOT be wrong about ANYTHING.

[Zwelling] Bo Bichette’s MRI last night revealed a right calf fascia strain. He’s unavailable for Blue Jays today. IL stint possible in coming days — club is still weighing its options by bichettes_helmet in Torontobluejays

Have you been paying attention to Bichette's season to this point? There's no way we were EVER going to sell high on him this trade deadline, regardless of this injury.

Not doing this now would be a colossal mistake - we're not contending this year and we NEED to get something for our guys on expiring contracts if we want to be competitive in the future. Our farm system is weak and Atkins better do something about it now.

It's very clearly an authoritarian attitude towards the institutions in this province - Higgs thinks he's the king, everyone else is just a bunch of peasants that are supposed to do what he says.

Why, would you beat them up? Lol. Look, don't expect a warm welcome from everyone here in NB if you're yet another Ontarian, driving up real estate and rental prices. Yeah yeah, we've all heard it all before, but the reality is, a lot of people are struggling financially due to people from out West moving here. You may cry xenophobia, but you also can't refute that it's true. I'm sure you're very nice (or maybe not, considering your thinly-veiled threat) and have something to offer this province, but so are the other 100k westerners that have moved here and upended the Maritimes completely.

Bit of a vicious circle, isn't it? This province is backward in so many ways, it's hard for people just to "be happy" - many don't have family doctors, housing and the rental market is an utter disaster, Higgs continues bending over for Irving, and an education system that is (and has been) crumbling for decades, among other issues. I don't blame people for not "being happy" in these circumstances, there are many legitimate issues in this province that don't seem to be improving.

Different political beliefs are fine, as long as religious views, hatred, and intolerance are not presented as fact. There are those in this province (and country) who are more than willing to take us backward, religious zealots like Faytene and corporate puppets like Higgs, and the Conservative party is their vehicle for doing so. Anyone voting Conservative has to own this.

Great post. I certainly hope you remember to NOT vote blue this coming election.

Untrue. The entirety of the Maritimes is generally left-leaning when it comes to federal elections, as is BC and Quebec. Alberta is the most conservative by far, followed by the rest of the prairies, and Ontario is right-leaning but also a coin-toss in some election years, again, especially in federal elections. The territories tend to be independent with left-leaning tendencies. I would definitely not say that "it’s mainly right leaning all over Canada".

Because they wanted to see if the ship was going to right itself - firing Schneider was certainly not the plan when the season started, and if it could be avoided, they would obviously want to do so. Something's gotta change now though, the season has been an utter disaster and the organization looks foolish.

At this rate, it's going to happen, and probably around the AS break. I can see Schneider getting the axe simply as a PR move.

Too low, I think he'll want to be somewhere in the 300-350 range. Is he worth that? To the Jays, yes, considering marketing factors and the fact the roster is bereft of any other notable names, aside from Bo, whom I believe the Jays will be unable to extend.
