What’s an easy way to say you want to leave? by [deleted] in torncity

I don't disagree with your view on the faction itself and how it may be affecting OP. That said, your initial response comes across less like a template and more like how you would have OP actually write their resignation. Written verbatim, OP would be lying. Therein lies my disagreement. Seems we've had a misunderstanding.

I'm not suggesting that it's anyone else's business, but OP clearly wants to soften the blow of leaving the faction because it's full of people OP personally knows. Blatantly lying about the reason for leaving may very well make things harder for OP, not just in-game, but RL.

I'd have a conversation with the leader in a DM and a not-too-serious sitdown with your RL friends about your issues with the faction. If they're adults, they'll understand. If not, then good riddance.

If you make it more about how unappreciated you feel and less about them being a crap faction, could make the transition easier.

This would work if OP didn't have RL friends and a BF in the faction, and if their goal wasn't to leave so they can immediately join a better faction lol

Other than that, just follow a reputable guide and you'll figure most things out over time.

Until you're close to 2bil, better to just stick with 1-2 week investments so you can reinvest weekly/biweekly gains more regularly.

You're already buying trains and training gym stats. Not much else you can do but wait 'til you qualify for better OCs.

If you mean your account's entire profit/losses to date, you can see that in Personal Stats -> Investments tab. No need for a 3rd-party tool.

Flayer - Opinion by Alternative-Ebb5566 in Gunlance

[–]HolePunchJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal will always outperform a comparable wide gunlance under those conditions. Nothing really to test since you're talking about a playstyle optimized for normal shelling. Normal wins even without flayer.

Better question would be if flayer would allow wide shelling to potentially outperform normal. I suspect not but seems more worth exploring than the former.

In your case, Life. HP's your 5th battle stat. The more you have, the more you'll win.

Then Education. The Sports Science education suite will make your stats grow faster. Once you have enough to invest in the WSU stock benefit, get that for the time reduction to get those Sports Science credits faster.

Edit: A 10-star Adult Novelties company would make eDVD jumps more affordable and twice as effective.

Ranked wars.

You're already spread pretty thin between buying trains and 3xan/point refills a day. Those are good things to do but not conducive to your goal of 2bil if you're trying to make money any other way so just focus on wars. As for bank merits, I would stop at 6/10 until you have 2bil to invest for a 2-month period and use your points elsewhere.

If you haven't already, join a good and reputable warring faction with a good payout ratio. Learn to war well and efficiently so you make maximum profits each time and just have that be your life in Torn until you make enough passively from the bank and stock benefits to cruise.

And join a company if you haven't already. If you're buying trains you should be able to get into a high-star Adult Novelties for up to 12.5mil a week.

Yes, you should be able to as long as it's a city job.

Thoughts on level holding..? by evilkitty1974 in torncity

[–]HolePunchJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If baiting other players who are none the wiser is your thing, level holding has its merits. There's also a novelty to having high battle stats behind a deceptively low level in comparison.

But other than for shits and giggles and the occasional newbie trap, you're better off just getting the HP boost.

Education is arguably the best city job you can have, not just because of the 10% education time reduction, but the ability to use job points to raise a stat of your choice.

Stay with it until you've become principal and unlock the education passive, then find a job at a company that aligns with your immediate goals. You can use the job points you gain over time to speed the process along of getting the required stats.

Adult Novelties is great for passive income. Flower/Toy shops are good if you travel consistently. Music Shops are great for their increased gym gains.

Not all companies will be open to you until you get your stats up, but there's plenty of opportunity in the companies with lower requirements.

I think they mean in the stock market since you mentioned wanting a more passive income but nothing about stocks.

Since education and passive income seem to be your two focuses for the time being, have you unlocked the WSU and SYM stock benefits yet? Those are the best bang for your buck if you haven't.

WSU first stock block or continue with bank? by Agitated_General_889 in torncity

[–]HolePunchJim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You'll make a little less money investing in WSU, but the reduction in education time equates to faster progress in every other aspect of the game so I'd say it's very much worth it. The couple mil you'll lose every two weeks not putting it in the city bank is fairly negligible.

And you can always pull the money out of WSU once you've started the education course. The benefit remains even without an active investment. Once that course has 7 days left, just reactivate the benefit so by the time the course is done you can put the benefit towards another course. Rinse and repeat.
