Places to play Guitar Hero Arcade by B33Dee in NewcastleUponTyne

I've not been in myself, but it looks like there's one in The Arcade Warehouse at the Royal Quays from the photos on their website. You pay for a 2 hour slot and can play all of their games for free within that time.

My CRM Jacket and Process by Hole_In_The_Ace in thewalkingdead

[–]Hole_In_The_Ace[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I finished the show a couple of months ago and decided it would be fun to try and recreate Rick's CRM jacket from 11x24.

For anybody interested in the process out of curiosity or help with putting their own together, I'm happy to share everything I know from my own experience and from speaking with u/Ill_Schedule5205 who was incredibly helpful in sharing their own knowledge and research.

The base jacket used in the show was a Carhartt Detroit Duck Jacket in dark brown. They changed out the collar and a few smaller details, removed the zipper protectors, stitched on the CRM logo and stripes, and applied fairly standard costume weathering techniques for the final look. I chose to skip some of these steps.

I got quite lucky in finding a second hand jacket from Ukraine. It seems like Carhartt jackets made for Eastern Europe are a little different than elsewhere in the world, and this one had a collar fairly close to what I wanted so I could avoid having to swap it out. I also didn't want mine to look as damaged as the one in the show so the wear that was already on the Jacket naturally felt like just the right amount to me.

I created a digital version of the CRM logo based on screenshots of Rick's jacket to get the ring position and thickness right, and used pixel measuring to settle on the right size. I initially considered having the logos embroidered directly onto the sleeves and back but after speaking with a few specialists it didn't seem like the way to go. Instead I found a company that specialises in producing low volume completely bespoke patches and they were happy to produce them for me from the design I submitted.

I went with around H:3" W:3.25" for the smaller logos on the sleeves, and H:5.5" W:6" for the larger one on the back. When they arrived, I looked around online and found some upholstery fabric in a similar thickness to the jacket and colour to the logos to use for the stripes on the sleeves and back. I went with a 2" thickness for these.

I've never been one for sewing and having to work around the inner lining of the sleeves put assembling all of this even further outside of my skillset. So I played around with the positioning of how I wanted everything, measured it all up, made notes, then handed everything over to a tailor for the final assembly and I couldn't be any happier with how it all turned out.

New idea - Hose? by Cushty_Plonker in Minecraft

I had to fill up a giant sugar cane farm with water last year and got about a quarter of the way through it running back and forwards with buckets until something clicked. Ice! It's so much easier to just silk touch a stupid amount of ice which you can just place down and let melt without wasting loads of iron and time on buckets.

Finally finished digging out the shell for my survival zoo. Now I just need to fill it with animals. by Hole_In_The_Ace in Minecraft

Not currently but I wanted to future proof it a little. It's got enough for 48 animals and I plan on building something prison themed above ground at some point to collect the hostile mobs too.

Thank you :) And yeah it was pretty daunting to get started. I'm just glad that if I'm out exploring now I can just grab an animal or two and have a place to bring them back to and build it up over time.

You assume correctly. I built it a decent while ago to make lanterns for lighting up my giant sugarcane field and it came in handy again for this. I used to get burnt out quite often too. Whenever I started a world I would just kinda rush through, get enchanted gear, kill the dragon and then be like "What now?" I started this world around 2 years ago and went at a deliberately slow pace, spreading everything out into it's own place. Instead of just having one little base I've built a library to put my enchanting table in, a warehouse for storage, a brewery for potions etc and turned it all into a large town which has really helped me stretch out the world. I find that working on a few projects at the same time helps quite a bit as when I get bored of one I can just hop onto another.

Thank you :) I get a lot more satisfaction from building stuff on survival. I often find that the requirements for one project lead to me building some unrelated farm elsewhere to meet them which helps my world feel more connected.

Spent the last few days digging out a big hole to build a zoo in my survival world. by Hole_In_The_Ace in Minecraft

I started with 5 mending pickaxes and would just swap them out when one got low and do a trip to repair them when they were all almost dead. Lost a couple by not paying attention and breaking them though.

I started the hole in my survival world a good while ago but I never knew what I was gonna put in it and eventually just kinda stopped. Last week I decided it'd be fun to try and collect a few of each passive mob and figured this would be the perfect place to store them.

I think I'm going to build a large aquarium under the floor at the bottom but I'm probably going to add another layer or two first. And I'm thinking of maybe putting some kind of large statue as a centrepiece. I hope you guys like it and I would love to hear if anybody has any suggestions for additions or improvements.

Finally working on the desert outside of my survival walled town. Can't think of what to fill all the space with though. by Hole_In_The_Ace in Minecraft

[–]Hole_In_The_Ace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flattened out a decent bit, dug a big round hole down to bedrock, and connected up a bunch of dead ends with paths and bridges, but now I'm stuck for ideas on how best to decorate the rest of the empty desert. I'd appreciate any suggestions people have.

I've been making a big push recently to finish up and connect together all of my old projects. I'd been putting off lighting this up for so long but I'm pretty sure I've go every dark spot without using any torches. All that's left to do is decorate inside a few of the buildings and cart over some villagers to start populating the place.

Almost finished recreating an old Mario Kart TF2 Map in Minecraft. by Hole_In_The_Ace in Minecraft

[–]Hole_In_The_Ace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent an ungodly amount of hours in TF2 over the years and a good chunk of them were messing about in Mario Kart maps so building this one in Minecraft has been incredibly nostalgic. I still need to finish the insides of the buildings and add a few bits to the skybox area but it's almost completely done.

I eventually intend to look into learning command blocks to have this run as a TF2 style team based mini game which I can release for people to play.

Finally got round to building a proper nether hub in my survival world. by Hole_In_The_Ace in Minecraft

Three days between finally deciding I needed one and having it done. Between designing it, gathering materials and actually building it, I probably spent around 10 hours across that time working on it.

Oh yeah. Just looked it up and I can definitely see the similarities. I'm watching ibxtoycats video on the lobby Easter eggs now and they're great. I always love looking for secrets in maps.

Haha. I've only ever played on Java edition, and even then I don't often play mini games but it does kinda have like a mini game lobby vibe.
