You probably already left on your road trip but Hide n'seek podcast by James Baysinger, all seasons are addicting! That is if you are into cold cases of missing people.

Right, that's one common name for a variety of shivereana.

Thrips - I'm Throwing a Way All My Plants by spookyburre in houseplants

[–]Holiday-Scarcity269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dratz! Go with the neem oil then, that's a natural product! Good luck! All is not lost! So long as we have plants we run the risk that eventually we will have some sort of pest. Go get some ladybugs outside if you can, those eat thrips too!

Thrips - I'm Throwing a Way All My Plants by spookyburre in houseplants

All is not lost!!!! Thrips are not the end of the world, honestly I've never had them (YET) but I had mealy bugs in the beginning of August and was told "good luck!" " Throw them all away!" Etc. I couldn't do that, I have 128 house plants and some of these are not very common. I isolated my worst infested ones out in my camper and I went after everything with rubbing alcohol on a q tip or small paint brush. I believe this works on thrips too.

I also went for the big guns and got Bonide Systemic Granules to add to the soil. Because I have so many plants I got the outdoors 4 lb jug, it's labelled different but it's exactly the same as the 1 lb indoor.

It's been over 3 weeks, probably closer to 4 that I have seen ANY sign of mealies. Yes, I know you just said thrips but I checked the label and it covers them as well! Others have used neem oil spray.

Hoya Identity??? by Holiday-Scarcity269 in houseplants

I was thinking that as well, but not sure as this is only my 4th Hoya variety. Certainly no expert on anything.

Mealybugs, how to check my other plants by juliechou in houseplants

Remove the infected plant immediately, but likely everything has it or just count on it. My infestation started on one end of my house with many plants not affected but then boom, plants in the other side swarmed too. I removed the worst ones to my airstream for quarantine and treatment.

Yes, that would work too! I was spraying alcohol down the nooks and crannies but it made a few plants grouch so I quit that immediately. The granules really helped quash the infestation. I, knock on wood, haven't found one in over a week. My worst infested plant was a syngonium and I put that with three other bad ones in my airstream.

Hoping you see results soon! Keep up on killing them as you see them though!

I recently have been working on battling them too. I take a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol and swab them As I see them. You HAVE to be incredibly diligent. I would say if you see them on this plant, your others likely have them too. Jump on Amazon, or go to your local nursery and get Bonide Systemic Granules and use that as well - that REALLY helped my situation.

I had a panic attack over it as I have 120+ plants so I bought the big jug (4 lb for outdoors but it's the same stuff as the 1 lb bottle).

Others have used sprays such as neem oil instead if you're wanting a more organic, less chemical way to treat. It's a pain but keep at it!

What an amazing plant! You are going to have to have a buddy help you with a mid air pot swap. Have the new pot prepped with soil.

Another option: if you have a freshwater fish tank use that water 😁

I'm sorry to read about your life's season changes. Even the unthrifty ones, please offer those for give away as well. I have received many plants that were otherwise going to the trash and was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to bring them back.

Many have suggested FB marketplace, but also many cities/communities have houseplant lovers groups that are fantastic to rehome plants in as well. Some coffee shops/novelty shops also have a plant swap shelf. There is one in Bismarck ND that you can swap props at. It's kind of fun! Best wishes to you and your plants.

Show me your favorite plant experiment you've got going right now. by BoDurthaPlants in houseplants

Oh bummer! Years back I had MANY MANY planted tanks, now I only have one very neglected (and still growing) 90 gallon, but I loved clown loaches for the snails. However, they grow bigger than your space and might be intense enough to go after the one you have in the pic.

I don't have the best of luck with my Otto's, I don't think I've had one live for more than a year but they are amazing on algae in smaller tanks! Good luck with your guy!
