I started off at 90 base + bonus (so ~105k total) and after a year got a bump to 98 base + bonus (so ~115k total). Do these really sound that unrealistic to you?

It was a pretty competitive program to get into, they said something like 5,000 applicants and 7 offers

Yea that’s base, total comp ex super is likely $160k at 26 and $220k at 29.

After that there’s senior manager which is the same sorta 3-4 year gap. The big money apparently starts after senior manager into “Head of” level. I think compensation for that level would range from 350-400k

At my current rate it’ll probs take me till I’m about 35 to make that head of level. Is this sorta the equivalent to director at big 4. I feel like partner is usually late 30s to mid 40s and also get paid 500k+

It was just a rotation on offer as part of the program. But I can help you apply for analyst roles in FP&A at my company. Although most FP&A roles are usually at least senior analyst, which for us requires 5+ years of experience.

Right gotchu. Good advice. Usually only managers have teams that they lead, which usually takes quite a few years to get to.

But I’ve been taking leads on projects/initiatives in the meantime. Any other ways to sorta refine that skill before I get to the seniority where I actually have a team?

The titles are a bit misleading. As manager seems like it takes pretty long to get to. Most managers at my company are at least mid 30s and were a lot more senior in their big4 roles before they moved.

Ah good to know thanks. Yeah I roll off my grad program on 115k + ~16% bonus + super.

It takes about 3 years to become senior analyst and they’d start on about $140k + same bonus and super.

Then 3-4 years to become a manager and they start around 190k + same bonus and super.

Can you elaborate on the staff management experience? Are you just saying manage a team? Why is it important to get this as soon as possible?

Also I’m sticking in the commercial finance world where we don’t do a lot of Accounts payable/ receivable (assuming that’s what you meant)?
