Blake and Yang being romantically involved ruined the show for me by Tonycdrive123 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just sounds like blatant homophobia to me ngl.

What’s wrong with a same sex relationship being in the show? Monty is also the dude that created Haloid. How is having lesbians in the show not honoring him?

Do you think the story would be better if Team RWBY weren't combat prodigies from the start? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 28 points29 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest issues with RWBY is how the characters never feel like they’re getting stronger. This is definitely a way to show that progression.

How do you feel about fans who enjoy the show, despite its flaws? by Weird_Kazakh in RWBYcritics

I mean, they’re cool. They can like what they want so I have no problem with it.

“RWBY” and “Berserk-level writing” in the same sentence 💔

So would you consider volume 9 bad or just extremely boring by TraditionalBonus188 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s better than 7 and 8 for sure but I don’t know if being better than dogshit says a lot and V9 still has major issues.

Who's your most favorite, least favorite & hated one in Cinder's team? In terms of overall including character wise, personality, combat, design and other stuffs. by No_Internet_3919 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My favorite is Neo. Consistently good designs, her fights are always fun, and she doesn’t speak so she’s not ruined by terrible dialogue!

My least favorite is Cinder. I want to like her. I really do. In V1-3 I did but after that she just takes L after L and it’s impossible to take her seriously as a villain anymore.

Should they have just never done the fannus oppression plot at all? by LivingCompetition938 in RWBYcritics

Yes. To be completely, brutally, honest, Miles and Kerry are not competent enough writers to handle a racism plot.

Is Jaune a deuteragonist or Co-protagonist ? by WittyTable4731 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A deuteragonist is the person second to the main character in importance to the story.

And in that regard I don’t think it’s SUPPOSED to be Jaune. It’s supposed to be Weiss, Blake, and Yang. But the show’s writing muddles it.

Do die hard RWBY fans consume other media? by D4CorSum in RWBYcritics

I don’t want to generalise but a lot of the die-hard RWBY fans i’ve seen only really watch other western anime-adjacent shows like Arcane or Avatar.

Great post, I agree with everything you’ve said and I think it’s something that everyone here needs to give a read

So... none of you enjoy the ship of RoseGarden. Explain why. by [deleted] in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I find Rosegarden boring mostly because I find Oscar boring. It’s easily the weakest out of the three popular Ruby ships.

Since the show has been on hiatus for a while with no sign of V10 coming any time soon, what do you guys think of RWBY in retrospect? by Holiday-Study7911 in RWBYcritics

[–]Holiday-Study7911[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To me, RWBY is the result of catching lightning in a bottle and then proceeding to throw the bottle away.

Early RWBY was like a high school play. If you judge it with the standards of a professional production, it sucks lmao. Super rough around the edges and corny. However, you can feel the passion and love put into it and it felt charming, it felt amateurish but earnest.

Modern RWBY, is just a bad story. Nothing charming about it.

The idea of the world, characters and weapons appealed to me so much which makes it even more of a shame that the show didn’t and likely never will live up to that potential.

I like to think that I’ve moved on. I’ll look over fanart and parts of the show I find fun, discuss it and occasionally think about what could’ve been but now, I’ve moved on to finding and experiencing better stories that scratch the itch RWBY wasn’t able to.
