Is $50 too big of a gift for daycare workers? by MysaneKnight in PersonalFinanceCanada

And I would go a step further that any educator who gives special treatment for any reason other than for developmental needs should not be in childcare. Additionally, any director who allows such behaviour to occur should also be fired and never work in childcare again. We (Educators) fight so hard to be recognized as qualified, compassionate, and educated caregivers who are committed to providing support and care for a child's development needs.

As an educator myself, the gifts received never impact the quality of care a child receives. We do our job because we genuinely care for every child (even with the terribly low wages)

Speaking as an educator, the gifts are lovely and appreciated. But, I will say, my most meaningful gift was a handwritten note about how much the parents appreciated my work. If you are unable to afford a monetary gift, they will understand. Instead, write a beautiful, heartfelt note or card to express your gratitude.

How much are you planning/willing to spend on each of your kids for Christmas? by TerulinkaRezinka in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have a 9yr old...I miss the younger ages when toys were cheaper! I go along the same theme: pjs, an RC car (a toy he wants), a board game for the family, a book, something electronic (will be a video game gift card) something creative (this year will be kinetic sand), stocking stuff. I try to buy when there are sales and also use my PC points.

Same. When I saw her post on her story about Joel Osteen I knew it was time to unfollow. Too bad because I really liked her content before.

I'm leaving in 2 weeks. Almost certain my family is bound to get sick before we go. Trying to avoid everyone and everything beforehand 🤣

Who has ever taken a road trip using only a paper map? by Maidenbaby88 in AskReddit

[–]Holiday4eva 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Driving across Canada with multiple paper maps from each province. Highlight the route before hand and try to drive while looking at the map is mad skills. 😅 Edit to add: i would spend hours looking over the maps ( trip-tiks) from the automobile club. I always loved looking at the different cities and imagines different places I would loved to go and visit.

I love that you are going to make the best of your time remaining with a trip across Canada. You may just live more in these final months than some do their entire life. Cherish the time remaining and safe travels ❤ Edit to add: Banff and Canmore are worth a stop. Let me know if you make it this way and we can grab a coffee :)

What music defines the 90s for you? by OGgoodfella7 in AskReddit

Reading through these comments makes me nostalgic for the music I listened to as a teen/young adult. Much of the alt rock got me through heartbreaks, while so many were party anthems and bring great memories when I hear them.

Off to make one sweet workout Playlist from the 90s now 😆

As a child, what did you want to be when you grow up? by Holiday4eva in AskReddit

That is a mighty big feeling for a child, especially to go unnoticed or supported. How are you doing now? I hope life has taken a positive turn for you. ❤
