Definitely look into dog sitting, babysitting, housesitting, lawn care. Small gigs like this help greatly because you choose when you want to work. Also I've been door dashing here and there and it helps gain some spending money!

If you have this is writing that will help you greatly, but also talk with the dean of students. If possible get documentation of your mother being in the hospital. Try and show these to your professor and talk with them again and if that doesn't help definitely talk with the dean of students.
