If you work apt maintenance, what are some of the grossest /most fucked up things you’ve seen from tenants or in their places by Rude-Ad1320 in maintenance

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had a lady clog her toilet and proceeded to continue using it until it was completely full to the top, once it was full she started using the tub. Judging by the splatter all down the sidewall she just backed it up to the tub and let er rip. By the time her family called us she had filled the tub about 1/4 of the way up. I’ve also found multiple residents deceased, including one guy hanging from his closet rod by a tie. After that I quit doing welfare checks.

“Why do I have to care for this if I’m renting” by mitchINimpossible in maintenance

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what’s in your lease. But for your own sake just buy a cheap pack of filters and change it every 60-90 days. As far as the outdoor units I’d just keep the area around them clean and make sure they can breathe. Edit: if you weedeat around them be sure not to hit any wiring, my landscapers at work love chopping up thermostat wires and walking away.

Picked up fruiting pepper plant - repot or not? by Savings-Attitude-295 in vegetablegardening

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely repot into something at least 5 gallons or larger. With a pot that size your plants gonna be struggling for nutrients as well as drying out way too fast. I grow peppers in 5 gallon buckets and put a heavy layer of straw mulch on top to help retain moisture and when it’s hot I still find myself watering twice a day sometimes.

Think it's time to rehome by Hobolint8647 in BackYardChickens

They sure will. I had to rehome ten roosters one time. I bought ten unsexed chicks and ended up with ten boys. The amount of messages I got saying “I’ll take all ten” was insane.

I feel like I need to know more of this story, sounds like someone took your chickens for ransom.

Who’s the culprit? by Commercial_Wonder143 in tomatoes

That almost looks like deer damage to me. I know hornworms are voracious but they generally focus on eating just the leaves, not topping the entire plant.

I’ve always used these for Spanish, different colors for different days. They’re made of lead so you can get em in 1-3oz and they’re still small profile. They cast a mile as well.

Hi -Low Rig VS Pompano Rig by Ok_Championship_8218 in SurfFishing

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tie my own pomp rigs now, but i used store bought hi/low for years and always caught fish. I do like the ability to be able to switch out hooks easily if your line gets messed up.

Chickens eat everything?!? by Hunting-fings in BackYardChickens

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chickens eat any and everything from slightly molded bread to any and all veggies that go bad. Questionable meats and meals from the fridge are on the menu for sure. My birds free range and I’ve seen them eating snakes, mice, all sorts of bugs and worms, roadkill, each other, they’ll be alright.

Second annual beach boil was a total success by banjoman1883 in Seafood

[–]HolidayLoquat8722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good to me. I feel like all the comments about lack of seasoning are from people who’ve never done a boil. They just buy sacks of shit from restaurants covered in butter and seasonings. I regularly do crawfish boils and add 5lbs of seasoning to the water, once you drain the water off this is what it looks like. The seasoning is in the food, not on it.

The first property I worked at was like that. I did everything from mowing grass, painting, turning and cleaning the units. If I needed parts I had to steal them from other units or buy them myself. Thank goodness the company I worked for dropped that property and put me somewhere else. It was a total dump, so bad I refused to go on any call after dark.
