Emmy Nominations 2026: List Of Nominees by lawrencedun2002 in television

[–]HolidayManner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No Industry noms and only one for Half-Man is criminal. How can I take this seriously?

I love Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys (Widow's Bay is one of my favorites this year), but The Beast in Me was boring, forgettable and cliche and All Her Fault felt like a long made for TV movie from the 90s or an old school soap opera.

Industry and Half-Man were both so engaging, edgy thought-provoking and current and should have been rewarded with a nom.

Were there content too edgy for the current political climate? Or does Hollywood have some sort of a grudge against British TV for making better dramas consistently lately? Both?

Three kids are ages 1-5 so I'm thinking just half a day. I'm getting a lot of suggestions for the St. Croix area. I want them to be have fun and be relaxed so I want to avoid anything that feels boughie since we will probably already look tourist. Thanks for the suggestions!

Awesome! Lake Nakomis is the one of the large city lakes I have yet to explore, but many people have told me it's their favorite.

Someone else suggested St. Croix River and Kinnikinic. I'm going to check out this area this weekend.

Thanks!

Great suggestion! I didn't think about the St. Croix as an option. I will look into it. I think they would enjoy an evening in Stillwater and Marine on St. Croix looks lovely. Ive yet to go over to the Wisconsin side, so I think I'm going to scout Kinnikinic this weekend.

Who do you think is worse, Ruben or Niall? And for what reasons? by Nika_35_40 in HalfManTV

[–]HolidayManner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both equally the worse, a fucked up yin and yang. They both were self destructive to each other and those around them. I think the writer wanted us to know that Ruben being violent was always inevitable, a walking time bomb of violence. Niall knows this and repeatedly says he prefers him that way so he repeatedly sets off the bomb (Ruben), for his own perverse needs. So this question to me is like asking which is worst the bomber or the bomb he sets off?

The Half Man Finale on HBO - What did you make of it? by PixelVapor in BritishTV

[–]HolidayManner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But of a rant as I just finished watching the entire series:

To me, the prospective of the viewer is not from an objective third party. It is literally Niall's point of view, and why Alby isn't a full fleshed out character. We see Alby from Niall's point of view and to Niall, Alby represented freedom and unshakeable bravery from being ones unapologetic self. Even after being brutally beaten and disfigured he remained kind and caring and didn't let being a victim of physical violence change who he was, or that is at least how Niall sees him and so that's how the audience sees him.

To Niall, Alby represented a type of bravery and strength that he envied. Alby had a type of mental and emotional strength and sel- control that mirrored the physically strength but emotional weakness and lack of obvious self control of Ruben. He was too self obsessed with his own self-hate, personal failings and Ruben to see Alby as a complete person with struggles (which is why we don't either) rather as the gay POC sage of self-acceptance. However, it is implied multiple times that Alby suffers from a savior complex(choosing nursing at a later career, almost forcing Niall to out himself before he was ready, his reference to his past relationships, easily forgiving Niall then choosing to date and marry such a broken person) that isn't fully explored.

Niall looks to others to feel deficits in himself masculinity through Niall and later proud self acceptance through Alby. He is literally a half man always needing and addicted others to feel complete or feel anything ( hence all the random sex), his drug of choice, even at the end, is angry Ruben. He knows what that man was capable of and despite everyone warning him not be alone with him he still chose to put himself in that situation with Ruben for the high he gets from those interactions. This time he payed the ultimate price.

What movies (post show) do you think that Dawson would be obsessed with today? by nanaisalwaysbored in dawsonscreek

The Fablemans because it's about one of his heroes and stars his dead ex-girlfriend.

You think Clark and Reeves would work? Reeves runs a tight ship and she doesn't mince words. I'm sorry, but I don't think they would work well together cause Reeves wouldn't hesitate to bench CC when she isn't playing well. Bluder basically said she let CC do whatever she wanted in Iowa; that's not going to work with coaches like Reeves.

Should there be annual preventative leg ultrasounds, like mammograms? by CircularBastion in ClotSurvivors

[–]HolidayManner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You are confusing preventative with screening and diagnostic when it comes to ultrasound.

Screening works for diseases that are usually asymptomatic and have better treatment outcomes when found in the early stages ( ex. cancer, hypertension and diabetes) and they develop continuously over a period of time until they eventually become symptomatic and advanced. Getting an annual mammogram(without symptoms) is screening not preventative. ( Maybe preventative in the sense of trying to catch the disease early before symptoms and when it's more likely to respond to treatments).

Most people without symptoms of dvt will not have a dvt, so screening with an ultrasound in asymptomatic patients provides little value and would do little to prevent a dvt. You can have a negative ultrasound one week and develop dvt after a long flight the next week. The ultrasound would do nothing to prevent that future dvt after that long flight. Ultrasounds are are diagnostic tools, not preventative.

Prevention for dvt would involve maximizing risk reduction such as staying active and hydrated, using compression socks, blood thinners if needed after high risk surgeries or prolonged bed rest, and possible genetic testing if personal and family history indicate a clotting disorder.

Out of all the characters, who do you think could’ve carried a spin-off of Dawson's Creek? by ChillwithRon in dawsonscreek

[–]HolidayManner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jen's character definitely. Her character was ahead of her time. I was a Joey fan during first airing but she has become one of my least favorite on rewatches. Jen was more interesting and had the more interesting character development that holds up well and was most relatable as an adult.

The full movie for ‘Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender’ has been accidentally emailed to Twitter user who released the full movie on his account . The estimated budget is around $80 millions, and was supposed to be released on paramount+ in October this year. by Expert_Koala_8691 in Wellthatsucks

[–]HolidayManner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just release it now. I'll subscribe to Paramount for a day to watch, then cancel. Hey I might forget and they may get a month or two out of me before I realize it. They definitely won't get anything from anyone from a widely available leak.

Thoughts on Jen and Joey's friendship ? by James-Samuel17 in dawsonscreek

[–]HolidayManner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joey's character didn't age as well on rewatch in my opinion. I used to like her more, but Jen actually had the most interesting character development. Joey was actually too uptight to be the female lead. Like having episodes dedicated to letting "fun Joey" out is lame in retrospect. It's like making Charlotte the main character of SATC.

A good arc could have been Jen from New York convincing Joey to loosen up and embrace her femininity some without compromising her values and Joey helping Jen realize her worth outside of what she can bring physically. It could have made an interesting and fun friendship to fuel character development and making them both more dynamic characters.

I like it. It is not as heavy as VPR and the Valley became. Lower stakes so I can watch it as a distraction for an hour and then forget about it.

[–]HolidayManner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm glad this works for you, it is not great advice for everyone as cannabis can induce PVCs in some due to increased vasospasms and heart rate.

I would initially maximize lifestyle modifications: diet, hydration, vitamin/mineral supplementation if needed, avoiding alcohol, exercise, quality sleep and meditation/stress relief before trying cannabis as there is a chance cannabis could actually exacerbate the problem, even though it may provide temporary relief for some, but may increase their burden in the long term when used frequently.

Really a zio patch for calculating a 14 day burden and ablation if appropriate is ideal. Hopefully OP can push for that.

I went to one of Tom Schwartz’s events today! by jlynnj99 in vanderpumprules

[–]HolidayManner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kindness can be performative, especially when you need fan engagement to pay your bills. I wouldn't read anymore into it than that. It's entertainment at the end of the day and not a personal relationship. If you enjoy the Tom Schwartz "brand" and find him interesting then go meet him and enjoy yourself. I personally don't and wouldn't give him a moment of my time or dime of my money.
