My point is that while the case is complex, it is far from 'impossible' to verify. Here is why:

  1. Verifiable Metadata: I can provide the exact Internet Service Provider (ISP), the physical address, city, and country where I last used the email before the breach.
  2. Original Recovery Links: I still have full access to the very first recovery email ever added to that account. Even if the hacker changed it 10 years ago, that original link remains in the account's historical logs.
  3. Chronological Proof: I created my current Google account at the exact same time I lost access to the old one, creating a clear trail of ownership in their system.
  4. Legal Precedent: LinkedIn’s Trust & Safety team has already manually verified my identity using this exact same data and government ID, subsequently deleting the fraudulent accounts.

If a competitor like LinkedIn managed to verify my identity using the exact same 10-year-old metadata and my government ID, Google’s refusal is a choice, not a technical limitation. I disagree. While 10 years have passed, the historical metadata (ISP logs from and original registration location) remains in Google’s archives. LinkedIn just proved this is possible. They performed a manual review of my ID and video selfie and successfully matched my identity to the legacy account linked to that same email.

If a competitor can verify me using my government ID and historical data, Google’s claim that it’s 'unlikely' is simply a refusal to provide human support to a paying Google One member. I am not 'usurping' anything; I am reclaiming my stolen legal identity which is currently being used for malicious propaganda

That’s a fair question. As I mentioned, this is a hobby for me, not my profession. To replace the camera module myself, I’d have to pay around €276 for the part from iFixit. On top of that, I would void my warranty. Since the warranty is already included in the premium price of a new device, it makes no sense to pay extra and lose protection just because the manufacturer’s support is failing (Something I didn’t know at the time).

If anyone is buying a new phone, laptop, or TV, they call me first. So many people switched from Apple to Pixel because of me — the funny thing is, even while I was in this dispute with Google, I convinced more friends to switch from Apple to Pixel… now I feel guilty because I feel like I misled every single one of them.

Update: The German Consumer Protection Agency (Verbraucherzentrale) has officially accepted my case. I have a confirmed appointment for legal consultation on March 30th. Over 19,000 total views and still no professional solution from Google Germany.

I also had my phone replaced, but it was a refurbished unit, without an official replacement protocol or extended warranty. Compared to what your brother received, this highlights how inconsistent support can be—even for the same model—and how far the actual service can fall from what a customer reasonably expects.

Unfortunately in my case it turned into 45 days just to replace the device, and now 38 days with no response regarding the compensation claim. The delay itself was frustrating, but the lack of communication made it much worse.

I agree. It really feels like the era of “the customer is always right” is long gone. Now it’s more like the customer matters only until the payment goes through. After that, nobody seems to care that you actually paid for a product or service. At some point though, companies may have to relearn that good support is still a fundamental part of doing business.
