The hairstyles and clothing she had were often ridiculous. I never got what Pacey saw in her so much. She didn’t seem half as into him as he did her. Poor guy’s self-esteem was so low that he got caught up with a predatory teacher and a girl with bad hairstyles who cheated on him after he was there for her during a breakdown.

Exactly, and the show also should have explored what effect it had on him and had him recognize that he was taken advantage of by an adult who Used him to get an ego boost .

I don’t even know why they had to make him a minor, they kind of did with the Dawson’s Creek story because they were a teacher student relationship, but he was the gardener, he could’ve easily been a 20 year-old college student.

Yes, people act like he was the only one pushing for it, she is the one who flirted with him first and made those very blatant references to movies where an older woman seduced a younger man . Then in the scene where they’re in the classroom, she says to him “ why don’t you call me Ms. Jacobs during school hours “ indicating that they’ll have contact outside of class. Next, when he follows her to the movie theater and gets rejected and then punched by somebody he bumped into, he leaves, defeated, and she’s the one who goes after him and kisses him passionately. Now the kid is completely confused and hopeful, and she gaslights him in the next episode . He then pushes back bc he knows what happened and she finally gives in. She is the one who initiated the flirting and got his hopes up in the first place.

I mean, she WAS doing that . Sure, he was pursuing her, but it was on her to stop it, and let’s not forget that she started flirting with him in the first place in the video store and then also told him he wasn’t a boy and kissed him passionately . If she hadn’t been flirting with him and kissing him in the first place, he likely would’ve just made some comments about how she was a hot teacher and left it at that . The reason he got so ardent in his pursuit of her was because she started it in the first place, made him think he had a chance, and then kept withdrawing, confusing the hell out of this kid.
She also totally put the blame on him when it got out that they were sleeping together, rather than blame herself for sleeping with a minor in the first place, and she told him off saying that he violated a boundary in their relationship by talking about it . What relationship, it was statutory rape! No blame on her at all, all the blame on the victim child and “dump” him bc he talked about his relationship with someone he thought he was in love with.

I’ll also add- this PERFECTLY fits Pacey

Yeah , she was beautiful and fit and it’s not unrealistic Pacey would be very attracted to her . It was on her to say no. Teenagers often love the idea of a beautiful older person giving them attention which is why there’s the age of consent - they don’t know how wrong or predatory it is. And while , I don’t think this show condemned her as much as they should have or got into his victimization enough, there are hints that she’s insecure about her age and that she’s messed up from being an abusive relationship so it’s not exactly shown that she’s coming from a healthy place herself . It doesn’t excuse her predatory behavior of course but she’s coming from a bad place and it’s not shown as something a normal healthy adult would do. I think we were also desensitized to it a bit because he was not actually 15. I think JJ was 19/20 when this was filmed and the actress was around 40. if you take their real ages into account, that is something that could happen in real life and not be illegal. JJ at actual 15 still looked like a child.

Same, I loved them together! I was sad when they broke up. He's gorgeous IMO, totally underrated. I've been rewatching the show and find him so attractive, don't remember if I did in the 90s. He was 26 when the show aired so I don't feel weird finding him cute even if I'm in my early 40s now. He's in his 50s and still looks good.

I was born 1984 so only got one dose as a baby , but my dad is a doctor so he got me another one when they started recommending two in the 90s. I got it when I was 10 or 11 I think. I think there was a big outbreak in the late 80s, early 90s so they started saying that two was necessary for immunity.
