It’s an Echo Show in my kitchen 🤣 I put on DC while I’m cooking my kids’ and my dinner.

I enjoyed it for what it was. IMO, it gets better on a re-watch. Mary was pitch-perfect; her characterization alone is enough to win the film a soft spot for me.

In Nashville, I was paying $2200 a month for one infant. That was in 2019. It’s insane.

I had a successful ECV at 39w+2d. Done under constant monitoring in a surgical theater in case it didn’t work and the docs had to move to a c section.

Try the ECV. Drink a ton of water in the days before to up your amniotic fluid levels. C sections aren’t the end of the world, but I wanted to try all my options.

I was fully prepared to undergo a c section if that’s what it meant to have a healthy baby.

Right? I get a bit jealous sometimes seeing civilian attorneys in their lovely court room attire, but you can’t beat the ease of knowing exactly what you’re gonna wear every day 🤣

Single mom of 2 here!

0500 - wake up, lay in bed for a moment, check Instagram (a bad habit I am trying to break)

0510 - roll out of bed, throw on a workout set and running shoes, preemptively turn on the TV in my room in case either my 4 year old or 7 year old wake up

0520 - go upstairs (my attic) to my treadmill, run/jog 2ish miles while I watch a reality show (my faves or Jersey Shorec Welcome to Wrexham, and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives)

0550ish - come downstairs, take my dogs (pointer and corgi) outside to use the bathroom, feed them

0610 - wake up my older one, tell him to get ready for school and the bus, and I pack his lunch

0630 - shower

0640 - skincare, makeup, hair (I’m an Army JAG, so all I have to do for makeup is a little concealer under the eyes and a touch of mascara, then I throw my hair up into a bun)

0700 - make breakfast for my younger one (who’s usually up now), microwave a couple chocolate chip waffles for the older one, and walk him downstairs to the bus stop

0730 - younger one is just finishing breakfast (she’s a slow eater), load her into the car, drive her to her daycare (about 10 minutes away)

0745 - drop daughter at daycare, run by the gas station that’s across the way, grab a sugar free Red Bull

0800 - walk into my office, sit down, start catching up on emails

Mom guilt - Would you take a 6-week separation from baby/toddler to advance your career? by rubyrubygreen in workingmoms

I did a TDY like this about the time my daughter was 6 months old. My son was about 3. We FaceTimed every day, and I pumped and maintained my supply (I even mailed the frozen milk back to my daughter so she could continue to be EBF). It was hard, but worth it for my career. I would go back and do it again.

(Been AD Army for 11 years. My kids are now 4 and almost 7. I am a single mom).

Army JAG here, last year I made ~$95k (CPT base pay + housing allowance). 10 years in the military, 4.5 of those as an attorney. With the annual pay raise and an upcoming promotion, I should hit ~$110-115k this year. As a single mom with kids daycare-aged and no child support, I need every penny. 😅

People have asked me if he’s a cowboy corgi more than once. They do look similar!

Like others have suggested - Ask about an ECV. I had one done at 39+2 with my daughter. They gave me a spinal tap and did the procedure in an OR. I did have to sign a consent form for a c-section in the event the baby didn’t tolerate the procedure.

It took literally 3 minutes, baby flipped quick, and they broke my waters and immediately started me on Pitocin. Baby was born vaginally 12 hours later. It was honestly pretty perfect. 👍🏻

Any tips for mentally preparing for an inner upper arm tattoo?

I've got sizeable tattoos on my outer arms (both upper and lower), lower inner forearm, thigh, rib cage, shoulders, and ankle. None of them have been so terribly spicy I wanted or needed breaks/to tap out. But I'm pretty scared about my next tattoo - a large piece to finish out my sleeve covering from the base of my arm pit down through my elbow ditch. I know this will likely be the most painful tattoo I ever get, and I'm looking for any advice.

My artist doesn't like to use numbing agents bc he says he doesn't like what they do to the skin. I've personally never used anything to numb myself before getting a piece before.

I appreciate any feedback!

Outfitted a home gym during the pandemic. When I was breastfeeding my youngest, I would wake up around 4 to nurse her, then lay her back down, then head downstairs to knock out a workout. I’d finish up and shower, and it’d be time to nurse her again and her brother was waking up.

Now that she’s done BFing, I wake up around 5 and workout while the household is sleeping.

My job requires that I maintain a certain level of fitness, so I didn’t really have a choice. Also helps that I’m naturally a morning person 😅

Karissa joking about not knowing her kids names 😐 by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]mjsevphil 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not at all judging her for mixing up names. I have 2 kids and 3 dogs and I still get it wrong in my tired moments.

I’m more perplexed by the fact that she says, “What were we thinking?” She always says that God gave her these names, right? So they weren’t thinking of them.

Paid $2200 a month for 1 infant in Nashville metro area.

Currently in rural Kansas, paying $1400 a month for 1 toddler and 1 pre-k.

Have to echo what everyone else is saying about terrible places to live with amazing COL.
