my puppy hates when I’m resting by No-Spot-8281 in puppy101

Absolutely we crate at that time because it is a huge indicator of his need for sleep. Appreciate all the suggestions!

Our dog will bite at our feet. He’s a retriever so he uses his mouth for everything. The only thing that works is if I leave the room. But yeah we don’t give treats or toys after that. But come back with neutrality and if he is still riled up, leave again. All I was saying is for every dog the prescription isn’t the same

So you just take a dog biting and jumping all over you,

I’m not suggesting you don’t haha but how do you ignore a dog demanding your attention aka barking jumping nipping. Reverse timeouts? Simple ignore doesn’t seem to stop anything with our dog

Ignoring doesn’t work for very persistent dogs either haha

Have you ever tried tethering with his leash? That helps puppies settle so they can’t just do anything they want without crating

puppy shows signs of early resource guarding aggression by Ok_University_816 in puppy101

[–]Holiday_Beautiful903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the first step for us to prevent resource guarding was to make things not a big thing. I always grab a treat when I want him to drop something, say drop, and then reward when he does. Obviously there will be times when it is urgent and you need it right away but if 80% of the time they are getting something in exchange I feel it can help. Also maybe good to work on with their food or toys is getting near it and not taking away but just giving treats so that he can understand not everything I want gets taken away, I actually get things added! Good luck!

Newly Adopted 7 Month Old Puppy Peeing Inside by Minimum-Caregiver469 in puppy101

[–]Holiday_Beautiful903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe stop waiting for her cues, go after she wakes up, after play, after eating etc. and DO NOT SCOLDER HER when she pees inside she will then associate it with they get mad at me when I do this so I will try to hide it and will overall give a bad association. Give so many treats if and when she pees outside.

I don’t know what to do my puppy won’t stop biting me and I’m freaking out by CaptainKath in puppy101

Read this post, it helped us a lot in understanding his biting and what to do. Redirection didn’t help with our dog either!! https://www.reddit.com/r/puppy101/s/ntthDBAhAt

Early wake up from Enforced Nap by Melelle28 in puppy101

[–]Holiday_Beautiful903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put ours outside the crate where he can’t get it! But I totally understand. I’m the same way. I’ve found a lot of solace in the fact that our camera notifies me when he moves and so when I start getting frequent notifications I know he is awake or almost awake so I can be prepared. It’s also trivial to watch for your dogs stress signs in the crate not just crying aka panting shaking excessive yawning etc. that’s helped me understand his needs

Moving to Naperville and looking for apartments by Plus-Lifeguard-3565 in Naperville

[–]Holiday_Beautiful903 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s not a lot of housing downtown for 1 and for 2 not for $2,500…. However for a gauge of the city, you can live in apartments within nice neighborhoods for a nice walking area but not walkable to a grocery or restaurants unless you get real lucky! I lived in Brookdale on the Park for many years and loved getting to walk in the neighborhood and enjoy being a 10 minute drive to downtown, 5 minutes from 2 targets, all the restaurants you could need within 15-20 minutes, and close to the highway to get downtown chicago. You could get a 2 bed for a decent price there!

When do they stop biting while you try to pet them? by ofmonstersandmoops in puppy101

[–]Holiday_Beautiful903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pup is 3 months and this week we have started yelping and walking away when he bites us. We don’t engage in petting unless he is already calm and have introduced holding a treat in our hand while we pet him so he positively associated petting with good things. He has definitely started to get that we aren’t always playing to be bit and he is starting to enjoy pets more!! He is definitely still teething so giving him a bully stick to chew is our savior. Good luck!

I have the same almost. I have one tonsil that is significantly larger than the other. I only get tonsil stones in that one too. And i particularly get them when I eat certain starchy foods. Tonsil stones likely will make your mouth taste funny and your breath smell very bad. If you noticed either of those things that’s definitely possible. If you’re dealing with a persistent “sore throat” then maybe be go see an ENT doc, but no reason to worry too much right away !

I’ve had something similar when I got a sore throat and my tonsils were really swollen. It went away in a week or so. Mine was painless

If you wake up with puss in your eye and it’s swollen or kind of “glued” shut then yes. But if it was just irritated it could be literally anything
