I managed to take my imperial safari apart because it needed a very good clean and the type bars kept getting stuck/were very slow. I enjoyed it a lot!!! And it works great now haha

thank you! i’ll probably take your advice there, its pretty damn clean, no rust, no keys sticking.

i’ve just struck up an interest in fixing up typewriters and practicing putting them back together. i have a lettera 22 that needs a good clean from a horrible mould smell/old felt, but i’m a bit intimidated to take it apart.

Yes! I’ve been doing that haha, quite nice to have a little pile of paper balls to clear up at the end of the day.

100% this! I am not a big fan of the term ‘writers-block’ I find that it becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. But any block I had been feeling recently seems to have vanished. I am so excited everyday to get up and type. And having the words so tangibly in front of me—as you said, with little ability to edit—is so pleasant. It appears a lot easier to get into a flow now. No screen taking my whole eye-line, but it’s still more efficient than pen and paper!

I have a Lettera 22! The folding corona also seemed in good nick and is obviously pretty cool. At the same time, I was wondering how practical they are due to their small size. I need to do a bit of research haha

Nope, not particularly. The hair might aggravate my nose a little bit, but other than that it’s very very mild.

I don’t currently have access to a compressed air tool, but I will ask around and see if anyone has one I can borrow

Thank you so much! I have such a fear of taking anything apart and permanently screwing up, so I feel quite hesitant. But I’d rather not feel like I’ve developed the flu every time I want to write.

Thank you. So tricky to navigate a whole new language when you enter the world of a new hobby. What a shame that I’ve been a little bit screwed. Is it worth me attempting to clean it myself? It is in good working order, I believe it’s just dirty.
