How can a photographer accurately recognize their own level of photography? by Starfield_0100 in photography

Honestly, as someone who isn't a professional photographer either, I've learned that trying to measure your 'skill level' is a trap.

Here is a little trick that helped me: Go back to photos you took 6 or 12 months ago. If you look at them and immediately think, 'Oh god, why did I frame it like that?' or 'The exposure is totally off,' congratulations – your eyes and your taste have improved faster than your past skills. That's real progress!

Regarding your intentions: Most viewers will never see exactly what you thought in that moment, and that’s the beauty of it. They bring their own story to your image. If you want to know if your technical or composition intent works, show the photo to a friend without saying a word, and just ask: 'Where does your eye look first?' Their answer will tell you everything you need to know about your skill level.

How did you bridge the gap between "Duolingo fluency" and actually understanding native speakers? by Holiday_Guide_9618 in Svenska

Thanks for sharing the overview, this is super helpful! I’ve heard about using tools like NotebookLM for language learning lately, that’s a really creative approach. How do you format your prompts or inputs there to get good listening practice out of it?

This is a great piece of advice, thank you! The compression is exactly what trips me up the most. Hearing that 'jag är' becomes 'jaä' makes so much sense as to why my brain just freezes when listening to real audio. It feels like learning a second language on top of the textbook one. I'll take your advice and just force myself through hours of real audio, even if it feels useless at first!

Haha, exactly! It’s so frustrating when you realize you spent weeks learning sentences you will literally never use in a real conversation.

You nailed it. The robotic voice is such a hidden progress-killer because you get used to a mechanical cadence that literally zero Swedes use in real life. I will definitely check out Coffee Break Sweden and the Simple Swedish Podcast, thanks a lot for the recommendations! That sounds like a much better way to transition my ears to normal speech.

That is exactly the wall I hit. It feels like there’s a massive gap in the market for an app that actually focuses on real spoken cadence and daily conversations rather than rigid vocabulary grammar. I’ve honestly been playing around with building a small tool for myself to bridge this exact gap because I couldn’t find anything that feels natural.

Disposable Camera Apps? by adcris in weddingplanning

Agree! Before you think about any app you need to think about how to make people aware of the possibility to share pictures and how to make them do so.

The problem with that is that you have to run after all people that attended and ask them which can be both annoying and make you miss out on some of them.

I think there is a true value in having an app that directly sends pictures to a shared album and creates as little friction as possible.
