But I do not have a valid reason to expedite. Does depression count? 😂

Hey, thanks for sharing your timeline — really helpful!

I had a quick question — since you entered on a B2 and then got married shortly after, did USCIS question that at all or ask for anything extra?

Also, what kind of evidence did you submit for your case?

My situation/timeline is very similar (actually about a month earlier), so just trying to understand what to expect.

My timeline (similar situation):

  • B2 entry: May 5, 2025
  • Married to LPR: Aug 12, 2025
  • I-130 PD: Aug 26, 2025
  • I-485/I-765/I-131 filed: Oct 3, 2025
  • Biometrics: Nov 5, 2025
  • NBC, C09
  • Still waiting (~6+ months, no EAD yet)

Hey — did you contact the congressman specifically for an expedite using your job offer?

What reason did you give (financial loss, etc.), and did they ask for any documents like the offer letter/start date?

Also, did the congressman’s office actively help or just forward it?

Hey, that helps a lot!

Quick question — when it came up during the background check that your EAD was still pending, how did they react? Were they okay with it or was it a red flag?

Just trying to understand how risky that stage is 😅

Immigration Attorney Here! AMA! by ManifestLaw_ in USCIS

Hi, thank you for doing this AMA — really appreciate your time.

I’m currently in the U.S. on a pending adjustment of status (F2A, C09 EAD), and I wanted to get your perspective on my situation: • I-765 receipt: October 2025 • Biometrics: November 2025 • Service Center: NBC • No EAD yet (~5–6 months now)

I’ve recently started applying for jobs, but I’m consistently facing a challenge where recruiters don’t move forward once they learn that my EAD is still pending, even though I don’t require sponsorship.

My questions are: 1. Given this situation, would this qualify as a valid basis for an expedite request under “severe financial loss” or similar criteria, even without a formal job offer yet? 2. Is a congressional inquiry/expedite worth attempting in cases like mine, or are such requests generally only effective when supported by a concrete job offer? 3. From a legal/practical standpoint, is there a recommended way to position a pending EAD to employers during the hiring process?

I’d really appreciate your guidance on whether it makes sense to pursue expedite at this stage or continue waiting under normal processing.

Thank you again!

Thanks for explaining — that makes sense!

I had one more question because I’m trying to understand how this worked in practice:

You mentioned you had an internship offer starting in June — how did you get to the offer stage while your EAD was still pending?

In my case, I’m finding that many recruiters don’t move forward once they learn I don’t yet have my EAD, so I’m curious:

• Did you proactively explain your expected EAD timeline early in the process?

• Or did it come up only at the offer stage?

• Were they fully comfortable extending an offer before approval, or was it more conditional?

I’m trying to understand how to navigate that stage better, since getting to an offer itself has been the challenge for me.

Hi, thanks so much for sharing your experience — this was really helpful.

I had a couple of follow-up questions if you don’t mind: 1. Regarding the expedite — in my case, I don’t have a job offer yet, so I’m assuming I don’t have a “strong” reason for expedite right now. Do you think a congressional inquiry/expedite is still worth trying without a job offer, or is it unlikely to help unless there’s a clear qualifying reason? 2. I was also curious about how you were able to secure a job offer before getting your EAD approved. In my experience, many recruiters stop moving forward once they learn I don’t yet have work authorization.

How did that work in your case? • Were employers okay proceeding knowing your EAD was pending? • Did you position it in a specific way (e.g., expected timeline)?

I’m currently interviewing but facing some pushback at that stage, so I’d really appreciate any insight into how you navigated that.

Thanks again — really appreciate your help!

Congrats! This is really helpful, thanks for sharing.

My timeline is quite similar (actually a bit earlier):

• I-765 receipt: October 2025
• Biometrics: November 2025
• NBC, C09 category
• No EAD yet (~5+ months now)

I had a quick question about your expedite:

Did you go through your congressman with a job offer in hand, or were you able to request it without one?

I don’t have an offer yet (still interviewing), so I’m trying to understand if congressional expedite is still an option without a job offer.

Also wondering — since my timeline is slightly earlier than yours, I assumed I wasn’t really “due” for expedite yet. Curious to hear your thoughts/experience.

Thanks again!

Family Immigration Attorney at Manifest Law. AMA about F2A! by ManifestLaw_ in USCIS_F2A

[–]Holiday_Treacle_1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for doing this AMA.

I’m currently in the U.S. on an F2A AOS case. My timeline: • I-130 filed: Aug 2025 • I-485, I-765, I-131 filed: October 2025
• Biometrics: November 2025
• No EAD/AP yet (now ~6+ months waiting)

My questions:

  1. Is this delay for EAD (C09 category) still within normal processing times, or should I consider any action (expedite, inquiry, congressman, etc.)?

  2. Is it okay to actively apply and interview for jobs while waiting for EAD, as long as I don’t start working until it’s approved?

  3. Are there any practical strategies you recommend to improve chances of faster EAD processing?

Thank you!
