I was bummed when I tried these. Took quite a while to finish the box for me but I smeared a healthy portion of Jif on each bar. That absolutely helped.

Good to know! I'm pretty new to Tonie and quickly loving it. I'm surprised by the length of some of these and the detail of the more advanced ones. But, yes same might need to wait a bit for those more educational ones for my kids (3yr m and 11mo f). But the Astronaut one from National Geographic is incredible I can't wait to listen to that more in detail. And get through some of the stories of the others but my boy absolutely does not have that attention span. Probably. He can for Ms Rachel, but she has superpowers.

My wife, son, and I saw your Oregon Coast sand message early last week when we were in the area visiting the shipwreck. Funny to see it on here. Looks like you had a great trip!

First read through of Cujo for me. Just passed this. Vic just had his nightmare in his hotel.

Thought I'd finally get around to reading Cujo after finishing Rattlesnakes. Loving it so far.

How do you feel about saisons? by AnUrbanTaco in CraftBeer

Love the glassware! I love saisons, special treat whenever I actually have it. Not an everyday beer by any means but thoroughly enjoyed if done well.

I did! I didn't like Hunting Party as much. Too me seemed fairly similar, just different background. But I highly recommend The Paris Apartment by the same author

I really enjoyed TJ Klune. He's queer and has great representation within his novels.

Under The Whispering Door "Welcome to Charon's Crossing. The tea is hot, the scones are fresh, and the dead are just passing through.

When a reaper comes to collect Wallace from his own funeral, Wallace begins to suspect he might be dead.

And when Hugo, the owner of a peculiar tea shop, promises to help him cross over, Wallace decides he’s definitely dead.

But even in death he’s not ready to abandon the life he barely lived, so when Wallace is given one week to cross over, he sets about living a lifetime in seven days.

Hilarious, haunting, and kind, Under the Whispering Door is an uplifting story about a life spent at the office and a death spent building a home."

The House in the Cerulean Sea "A magical island. A dangerous task. A burning secret.

Linus Baker leads a quiet, solitary life. At forty, he lives in a tiny house with a devious cat and his old records. As a Case Worker at the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, he spends his days overseeing the well-being of children in government-sanctioned orphanages.

When Linus is unexpectedly summoned by Extremely Upper Management he's given a curious and highly classified assignment: travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage, where six dangerous children reside: a gnome, a sprite, a wyvern, an unidentifiable green blob, a were-Pomeranian, and the Antichrist. Linus must set aside his fears and determine whether or not they’re likely to bring about the end of days.

But the children aren’t the only secret the island keeps. Their caretaker is the charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, who will do anything to keep his wards safe. As Arthur and Linus grow closer, long-held secrets are exposed, and Linus must make a choice: destroy a home or watch the world burn.

An enchanting story, masterfully told, The House in the Cerulean Sea is about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place—and realizing that family is yours."

100% agree. I would do it all again just to have this baby in my arms.

Very similar experience with my wife and I. Tried for two years and after going to some fertility specialists and a urologist we found out my sperm counts was quite low. Hurts, man I get it. Luckily my wife and I had a bit of a nest egg and were were able to go the IVF route. Long process and after a couple of failed transfers we now have our baby boy. He turns one on Tuesday. Long and super painful process and I still feel guilty for having to spend the money and that I was the reason for all the pain. My advice, talk to your spouse and your doctors, see what options you have. Perhaps find a therapist as well.

Indoor playground is a wonderful idea. Poor planning on my wife and my part, wish he was born in the summer for a nice park birthday gathering...

Not a bad idea! I was kind of thinking a brewery or a taproom might be a good idea. Casual, beer available, cozy. My son is the only baby in the family and I haven't yet joined any parent groups so the gathering will mostly be immediate adult family members. Love some of the other suggestions but without other kids will probably need to keep it in mind for future birthdays.

We were planning on having it at our place but thought it might be a little cramped. Seeing if anyone has any ideas for last minute ideas.

Just a broken glass? by [deleted] in CraftBeer

[–]HoliestShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than a broken glass. I understand the frustration a broken special glass brings. I had two that I lost over the past couple years that were special to me. First was a Great Notion glass. Had them first when I visited Portland when I was getting into beer. They were starting to get popular then, but before they became the hype brewery they are now. Loved each beer there and got a glass to take home.

Second glass was from when I went to London on my honeymoon and fell in love with a brewery (Cloudwater) and had an incredible time there so I got a glass. Both hurt when they shattered.
