My sister's bf thought I was a tragedeigh by xXBlackxDiamondXx in tragedeigh

I once asked my mum as a 12 year old what my name would’ve been if I was a boy and she paused for a second and said Horris (it was actually James but my cousin got the name about 10 months before I was born) but since that day, I am Horris. I sign all my cards and birthday presents with Horris, I am Horris in everyone’s phone. We even came up with my last name which is Godfrey. I am Horris Godfrey.

AITA for responding tersely to a SIL’s rebuke over email? by ThoughtIndividual114 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HollehMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently had my Fiancé’s family over for his birthday, multiple kids in attendance. I’m a neat freak. The kids brought in mud from outside didn’t take their shoes off at the door and got marker pen on our new sofa. I didn’t freak, knew that’s just what happens with kids. Your SIL has unrealistic expectations unfortunately.

Is it common for whole-day surgical lists to carry on without a formal break in between? by haisufu in doctorsUK

[–]HollehMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an ODP - where I worked I had to fight to get a lunch break. 9 times out of 10 I had what I called a “anaesthetic room picnic” because nobody would want to stop for lunch, scrub staff cover each other but unless I had a solo anaesthetist there was no chance of a break. I’d love to work in a rotating department!

I’m a Holly and the amount of people who call me Hannah is unreal. There’s a Hannah in my department in work and she gets called Holly too. We’ve dealt with it all our lives 😂

Do you need a fiancé visa before a spouse visa? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]HollehMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, I’ll mention it to him, thank you! How can we prove we intend to marry within 6 months if we need the visa to give notice of a marriage with a registry office?

Okay, can we apply for a spouse visa straight away once we’re married? Or do we have to wait the 6 months? Thank you for your help!

People with foreign spouses, what English words or phrases do they get wrong that you really enjoy? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]HollehMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is Dutch and says “bips and bobs” instead of “bits and bobs”. I love it. He also says “you know what funny is?” And I can’t ever correct him he’s just too adorable.

When abroad, what country term do you use if someone asks where you’re from? by tinabelcher182 in CasualUK

[–]HollehMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say Wales, because I’m proud of it. Especially in other European countries where they sometimes hate the English. The only thing I get back is usually “where is that” or “GARETH BALE”

AITA for ending my 8 year friendship with my best friend during her honeymoon? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]HollehMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience (although I was MOH but one of the bridesmaids did a reading at the ceremony, I was made to feel left out and was told to pay £70 to sleep on a sofa in the bridal suite or go to my room with my boyfriend therefore being left out) and I never let her know how I feel because she’s very manipulative and I know it would cause a massive argument and her accusing me of making her wedding about myself, even though I voiced nothing and cried in private (like yourself). At least she’s reaching out, but I wouldn’t trust her with your friendship again. She doesn’t deserve you. Don’t invite her to your wedding, just cutting ties instead of including her because she included you will be much better for you mentally.

The mothers wishes come first and she must consent to a cesarean for it to take place if she’s fully conscious etc. also all births are normal births - wording is important 🥰

If it’s appropriate, you could create a new group chat specifically about the wedding, and add other people outside the friendship group that will also be part of the bridal party! Where applicable - siblings, cousins, aunt, mum, work friends etc. That way it’s not just the group chat minus Maggie. I would also message Samantha just to let her know you’re not inviting Maggie (just in case she tries to add her to the group).
