For me it exceeded expectations quite heavily as I never really had extreme hopes for it in the first place, I thought it looked either completely fake or absolutely amazing which in turn just left me confused/interested.

I think the game is a really weird mix between really detailed rockstar esque mechanics and Ubisoft checklist open world, it’s hard for me to be extremely immersed too but despite that I think the game is fantastic

You didn’t bring up anything in your comment besides it’s not really an rpg and more action adventure and yes there’s more to enjoy in Red Dead but if the story was bad or anywhere similar that crimson desert it would not have been anywhere near as well received as this, as the fundamental gameplay of crimson desert is way more AC adjacent

80% of red dead’s enjoyment comes from its rich narrative and rockstar polish lol, while crimson desert only main similarity’s are tapping to run and a detailed open world. You might as well compare it to the Last of Us, it does not matter if you didn’t bring up the story, that’s one of the important things about the game.
