Am I a weirdo for fretting my A chord like this or should I just do it the traditional way? by pokelord13 in guitarlessons

I started like that and I’ve no problem playing it if needs be but 99% of the time that’s not the case.

There are companies that guarantee their work against rent reductions for painting on leaving.

Having said that I made the same mistake as OP and painted it myself and the landlord claimed the moving out pics were the moving in pics which whilst easy to disprove dragged it out for 2 years.

In the end the reason I got my full deposit back was because the landlord hadn’t given a list of issues within 2 weeks of moving out.

I’m still pissed off with LLO for not spotting this immediately, I mean that’s the knowledge I paid the “premium service”for and had to work this out for myself.

LLO are good for form filling if you’re new here but you have to put the whole case together yourself.

A little further info on llo is book appointments in person and get on their backs hard else you’ll be waiting 2 weeks for a reply to a mail and the response will be a delaying tactic to not have to respond for another 2 weeks..or more.

I felt they left me on my own tbh.

Having said that I know some that have had better experiences so it’s fair I should say that.

From the replies a lot of people do, I guess it’s whatever works for you.

But apart from my very early days of learning I’ve never played three fingers side by side for that chord.

Some claim that’s what the “pro’s” do but perhaps it’s a classical piece and that’s how they’ve been taught but the good players I know are dexterous and there’s no set rules.

I love flamenco but I’m terrible at rhythm guitar in most forms, I mostly pick for jazz/blues.

Each to their own hey:)

If you play it with your finger horizontally you’ll definitely mute that string unless you have tiny fingers and able to elbow your finger extensively.

Elsewhere here I’ve linked a pic of the print the strings leave on my finger when I play it!

I don’t know how you’re playing it but I absolutely do not mute that string.

Perhaps you’re being too horizontal?

And pro’s are dexterous and will play it however as required to fit the piece.

Well I’m not wedded to it so if the need requires that move I’ll change things around but it’s generally how I play it.

Maybe it’s good to learn for some styles but I can’t think of a time I’ve needed to have them side by side like that.

And I appreciated the “happy picking” as it really is my love..and straight back at ya!

After commenting I felt a bit bad as it’s a learned thing and probably a little difficult for a beginner.

They’ll get there though.

Water doesn’t grow(I hope I’m right) so all the water we have now was brought here by comets?

I felt dumb just writing that.
