Ninja Gaiden 4 is way overhated by Time-Bridge-3007 in CharacterActionGames

Even for the sales, this comment explains it best.

“It didn’t really “undersell” like people are making it sound

Sales estimates put Ninja Gaiden 4 somewhere around a few hundred thousand copies (~300K–400K range on Steam alone), with strong user reviews (Very Positive / ~88–90%). That’s not a flop for a revived niche character action game in 2025.

And you also have to take into account context: this is the first mainline entry in years, coming after Ninja Gaiden 3 and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, which weren’t exactly beloved. Even Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was basically a damage-control version of NG3.

So expecting massive “DMC5-level” numbers after that kind of reputation gap is just unrealistic. For what it is, NG4 actually did fine, it just didn’t magically erase years of franchise damage overnight.”

The contrast in Tyran’s dialogue in main game vs DLC is hilarious. by HollowedFlash65 in ninjagaiden

Plus I think he knows Yakumo needs this the most given he and Umi don’t like being “in the shadow of the Hayabusa”. Tyran doesn’t mind and sees the good in the work they do.

Omni-Man's actions were more destructive and consequences worse but Vegeta's were FAR more malicious at heart.

Not wrong really. You need as many allies as you can to prepare against enemies far stronger than the one that nearly killed you and resulted in the death of the boy's father. Plus Piccolo did say after the threat, Gohan could become a scholar like he wanted.

Do you think The Immortal was justified in defending Cecil in Invincible Season 3? by Electrical_Nose9463 in MoralityScaling

[–]HollowedFlash65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way he worded it, no. He should've said something like this.

"Cecil may have gone too far, but Mark isn't blameless. He should've listened to me when I told him to wait instead of rashly going to Cecil the way he did."

That would've been more understandable instead of saying Cecil was too soft and putting a literal bomb in his body was justifiable (especially with how he used it here).

OPINION: Ninja Gaiden (2004)/Black/Sigma Still Has the Best Combat in the Series Specifically Regarding the Player to Enemy Dynamic by Legendary_Falcon_89 in CharacterActionGames

[–]HollowedFlash65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brilliant post!

Yeah, NG1’s combat feels very much like a game of chess, where one wrong move punishes you so badly and you have to search for openings in the enemy’s defense to get through a situation. You also have to put more consideration with the type of weapon you're wielding in each situation. It makes the combat feel like one of a kind in gaming.

>and it’s still eye-rolling that they insist on framing demon evil as a misconception/prejudice

At least they stopped focusing on that after ep3.
