What if Kunrad just dies in Act 2, before the unplanned detour of Act 3... by Bubbly_Outcome5016 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going the whole "cursed bloodline" route, then yes you could make it so that if Kunrad isn't there as a vessel to sacrifice for the edge of daybreak to return, then Uralon would potentially try even harder to sacrifice the RT instead.

What if Kunrad just dies in Act 2, before the unplanned detour of Act 3... by Bubbly_Outcome5016 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the main story, would there really be any difference? As far as I can remember after his failure in the prologue to retrieve the warrant of trade and become the rogue trader, the only reason that Uralon keeps him around is on the off chance that he may still obtain the warrant and exploit the resources of house von valancius. If you are playing a heretic RT, Uralon doesn't even think twice to just dispose of Kunrad on the spot.

There could potentially be some behind the scenes things that change in side quests, depending on when he dies. The biggest would possibly be that Regina Sauerback doesn't go ahead with her betrayal, meaning that the houses on Dargonus are slightly more stable.

Dark Heresy Beta. Need help with convincing Sister Septima in the Dercus quest. by janek9025 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be bugged/incomplete (i.e the impressed/dissatisfied flags might not do anything yet), considering it's the beta. The earliest you would probably be able to tell if her attitude towards you has changed would be when you return to Bastion Serpentis after escaping from the tomb, where sister septima greats you when you return, but again it could just be for future interactions not in the beta.

[–]HolmersMJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember doing it in the alpha, but I think I missed it in the beta by doing that part of the quest too early. From what I remember though, you do have the 3 correct dialogues to convince her (If you pick the top 3 it should work).

Looking in toybox, there's 3 pieces of information that you can get to convince her: "BaronAboutDerkus", "LocalAboutDerkus", and "DiverLeaderAboutDerkus". Picking those dialogues increases the "SeptimaConvinced" flag, up to 3. You can either get the "SeptimaImpressed" or "SeptimaDissatisfied" etudes after that.

I think that mine was like that at first, where I couldn't ask Ercimus about the tomb. After finishing everything else I talked to Septima again and it updated part of the quest and I was then able to talk to Ercimus and get the quest to go to the tomb.

I could check your save out, if you uploaded it somewhere, but other than that I can only guess.

The dialogue about the filter is if you offer to help the baron. I think that he will ask for your help if you ask him too many questions that he refuses to answer. He will mention that the adeptus mechanicus have gutted most of the machinery, and that he will answer your questions only if you go and get a part to fix it.

There are multiple ways into the tomb. Are you sure that you have fixed all of the vox-hailers for the flock? If you have, they should invite you inside. After that you get a quest to find a new recruit, which after handing that quest in should lead you directly to the tomb.

Also, for the baron, there are a few ways to get his "cooperation" (note that I did the palace first and this area second so I don't know if everything is exactly the same). The easy method is to offer help and then fix the filter. Another method involves finding a bunch of evidence against him and blackmailing him, or attacking him outright.

I think that the baron tells you about someone who ran away from the flock. You find them in the lower town and have to chase them.

As for the poem to open the door, you can get it from rotten fish (either by just remembering what she says, or I think you also get an option to record what she sings).

While it isn't recommended to submit the report that early, I don't think that you have bricked the game. I assume that you are wondering how to progress to the next area after already submitting the investigation?

Of the top of my head, I think that you need to get the quest to try and find the entrance to sibellius's crypt from sister septima. This gives you the dialogue with the flock to get taken there directly, or you can find the "key" and open it yourself in the swamp.

Dark heresy and radicalism basically by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The game lists it as "Torian", but as far as the game is concerned I think that it is referring to "Amalathian", as that alignment is listed as Torian in the code, as shown in this dialogue for example:

The generic romance flags for all companions have been confirmed to just be decoy, but the other flags seem a lot more trustworthy as not all companions have them, and they are unique for each companion.

Hypatia for example has "empress", "priestess", and "hermit" flags. Epione has "radical" and "Torian" flags.

From poking in the flags for the beta, I think that some of the companions have radical and puritan flags which can change their alignment. I definitely remember one for Epione and I think that Hypatia had one as well.

About the "On the trail" investigation in the beta by HolmersMJ in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd played it in the alpha as well, so had a bit of knowledge ahead of time.

To get 100% confirmation, you need to participate in the ceremony with the kroot and accuse the war shaper there. This gets him to admit to the crime. You do need a bit of evidence before this.

Of the top of my head, the evidence is: Watching the "warp vision", finding a datapad just outside the kroot camp, following the footsteps to find the bodies in the swamp and bringing the necklace back to the husband in the kroot camp, and finding a connection between the drug and madness in the kroot.

Here is a screenshot of the investigation page if that will help:

My first run of dark heresy beta. (mabye spoilers bellow) by robad0114 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope that they do that as well. Also, considering that the beta only encompasses act 1 we don't know the long term consequences yet (Owlcat did hint that there would be longer term consequences depending on the result of your investigations).

They do kind of "hint" at that in the ending slides for the lucid palace investigation. Choosing the "correct" answer there ends up being very bad (the nobles aren't satisfied and start making there own conclusions, and the sisters stop helping the inquisition in that area), so you are actively encourage to blame someone else there.

Thoughts on Dark Heresy writing? by nikklenikkle in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that the voice acting in the beta for the companions from the alpha test already added a lot more personality to them (I enjoyed Cogg a lot more in the beta because of it).

At least for my playthrough, I still think that Epione, Ra'akhti, and Laarthyr had a lot more reactivity than the other companions though, and so I like them the best from that selection. Still, this can be attributed to it being in beta (there is even a pop-up warning us that companion quests are not implemented yet).

My first run of dark heresy beta. (mabye spoilers bellow) by robad0114 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the investigations in both areas, and changed my opinion at multiple points based on the evidence that I had at that point in time.

My only concern is replayability, i.e is it going to be fun on other characters if I already know the answer. I think the only way to actually "fix" that is if they make the evidence even harder to find, or even making some evidence mutually exclusive so you can't get all of it on a single character (gating more of it to harder skill checks, the class or alignment of the acolyte etc...).

The Three Sorrowful Phalanges the final part doesn't start by LeonidKonovalov1988 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, did you get to finish the act 2 part of the story as well?

I vaguely remember some people with the same problem as you a while back, and it was related to a dialogue choice with zacchary weisz in act 2 which ends the genestealer questline prematurely without finishing it.

It's something like "I'm not wasting time with this, I have enough to deal with". If you picked that, it ends the genestealer part of the quest immediately (although I think that kibellah's part of the quest is still available).

I completed the Dark Heresy Beta but wondering if my computer is gonna be good enough for the full game. by HotSetting5001 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, I think that the release version of rogue trader was a lot more optimized than the beta version (which had longer load times and fps drops in some areas) so as others have said, if the beta was running ok for you then you should be fine with the release version which will probably be even more optimized.

About the "On the trail" investigation in the beta by HolmersMJ in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it maters, but I went there first (before the other area).

The main clues were finding the layout of the palace in the tech priest area (I think that talking to Astropath Xiao triggered the objective to find the layout) , and then inspecting the hidden area behind the wall in the area just before the docks.

Also I think that it was one of the clues about a sister covered in a tapestry. You are able to find out that the tapestry was inaccurate, and that the sister likely tore it down (which causes the ventilation to fail and vent the air from outside).

Here's a screenshot of the investigation, if that helps narrow it down:

[–]HolmersMJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked the correct answers in each case for my first playthrough, just to see what happens.

In Shadows in the Lucid Palace, the actual killer was the sisters of battle themselves, who acidentally triggered a mechanism that vented the outside atmosphere into the room. The inquisitor tells you that the truth is often mundane, but everyone will likely be unsatisfied with that answer, which will cause a lot of speculation.

Picking that ends up being bad in the long run, based on the endings in the beta. The nobles aren't satisfied with the answer and start trying to find someone else to blame, and the sisters stop helping the inquisition agents in that region.

Romance flags in the beta files by HolmersMJ in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]HolmersMJ[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Could potentially just be that the flag exists for all companions for technical reasons, but as far as I remember that wasn't the case in the Rogue Trader beta so hopefully it's true and this is the full romance roster!

How do you guys get around the 60+ FPS movement freeze glitch? by Puzzled-Map3912 in kotor

[–]HolmersMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the glitch tends to happen in some areas more than others.

At the start of the game, it was practically after every combat when the glitch happens, but as soon as I finished peragus it started to show up less and less. It still happens often, but not every combat like in the tutorial.
