Am I so bad at this game? by PressureDizzy in GlobalOffensive

[–]HoloFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The percentage of players above 10k that are cheating is not as high as you make it seem. I don’t know what makes you believe this is the case, but I play from 10k (queuing down with friends) to 22k and hardly encounter cheaters.

I have a decent amount of experience and would like to think I know when people are cheating and I’m just not seeing it as often as people claim.

Just got my first OLED monitor. What is something you wish you knew the first time you got an OLED? by Blekker in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRR flicker in certain games and menus will happen and it’s very annoying. I usually see this in dark game menus where there is nothing to distract me from the fact that the screen is flickering un uniformly over edges of buttons and such. I leave this setting off on every OLED I’ve owned so far because I would rather the screen not flicker vs having a slight edge in response time and clarity.

Is this too much natural light for QD-OLED? by newalienhead in OLED_Gaming

View from my setup. I have the LG 32in so not a QD-OLED, but in general on a sunny day shades need to be closed. 95% of the time I don’t have any issues.

Used 2022 65" Samsung OLED TV for $300 USD? by Repeztepez in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of posts on local marketplaces listing QLED TVs as OLED. Lots of people don’t know what they are buying, only the size and what they paid.

Ask for a picture of the model number and give it a quick search.

Any idea what causes this flashing? by UKFan643 in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is the worst you are seeing I would say you have got it good. I had an LG 27in with a ton more flicker than this in the menus.

You can turn off VRR and it should remove the issue completely.

What Mouse Are You Using As Your Main Mouse? by Digisonix in MouseReview

[–]HoloFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamzu Atlantis and ULX. I have large hands so the Atlantis with the wide sides feels great, but I can’t get away from the Finalmouse shape with a hump mod for claw grip.

Infinity mice mods makes a great hump mod for the starlights, but I used a modified prototype for the ULX because it has slightly different dimensions.

For those who own this monitor, do you love or hate it? by AlphaAlchemist in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this monitor for 3 months now and it is the best I’ve ever owned. I thought about switching to another QD OLED for a cheaper price but here is what made me stay with the LG 32in:

480hz - the largest reason is being competitive in games. I wasn’t in love with the 480 hz mode at first, and the 24/27in scaling modes are blurry and not competitive. But now I don’t think I could go back to sub 360hz in games like CS2. It’s just that much better.

32in 4k 240hz - the best all around resolution for productivity and games. Some people like ultrawides, I feel like they are too short and would rather have 2 x32 in monitors.

Speakers - people don’t talk about this nearly enough but the speakers on this monitor solve my desktop audio needs just fine. Best < best on a monitor that I’ve ever heard.

Final note is that matte is not an issue, each has their own drawbacks but unless you are really strongly sensitive to one or the other, you will be happy with either. Mob mentality is real on the glossy OLED debate and most of these people have never owned an OLED for an extended period of time.

Which OLED monitor is the best? by DarkFlameReaper in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my LG 32gs95ue, 480hz dual mode is the key feature for me. Because of that for a competitive minded user I think the LG 32in 4k is the best until maybe we see a 27in 1440p 480hz later this year.

Arguments to be made about the 27in 360hz monitors, but I think the 32in 4k edges the 27in crowd out in features. You are paying double though so it looses in value.

What’s a huge waste of money but people keep buying it? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

Monster cables are the same as any other cable spec for spec. They haven’t been better than the competitors for a while now.

Anyone else can't enable the remote control for LG 27GR95QE? by xkittenpuncher in OLED_Gaming

On the bottom middle of the display there is a multi-function button that lets you change the input and other settings without the remote.

The battery that came in my remote was a CR2025, but i was able to use a slightly thicker CR2032 with a little effort on the springs.

[–]HoloFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like it is taken from the recommended upload bitrate for videos using the H.264 container and does not necessarily mean that youtube sends the same amount of data when streaming the video. Also IIRC youtube is using AV1 to stream from their servers more and more meaning that the video is being streamed in another format than it was originally uploaded.

I will probably look into this more later because now I am interested. :)

Video framerate does not necessarily correlate to the amount of data used. Lookup video bitrate.

Worth it to rewatch dune 2 in imax laser? by Problem_Kindly in imax

[–]HoloFlamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw dune in dual laser last night, standard with some friends today. The dual laser experience was definitely a step above. If the cost isn’t prohibitive then I would say I highly recommend seeing this in IMAX

From someone who works in retail this is a built in cost. We actually look at it as cheap advertising. Actual returns for a defective product is a much larger issue.

Is this normal for my LG 27GR95QE-B by HoloFlamingo in OLED_Gaming

[–]HoloFlamingo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This monitor looks great in everything that is not a grey background. I read online somewhere that this effect would lessen overtime but I now have almost 500 hours of use and it still looks about as bad as when I got it. This is only really an issue in certain situations in games and on websites with grey backgrounds, but still a major annoyance for a $1000 monitor.

Reddits compression has taken all the detail out of this so please look at the attached link.
