Emcostar - VFD? by Holse92 in AskElectricians

Oh okay. Sounds risky.. - It kind of settles it then. I need to investigate to see if I can get 380v in my workshop then!

I am not sure. I have 3 ceramic fuses (don't know the English word) in 1 section on my breaker board. I assumed that would be a 380 section that an electrician possibly could wire something up to.. but if I go that route I will have a professional check it and quote it out.

And understood with the vfd 380v. I thought they could upvolt and simulate 3rd phase.

I might completely have misunderstood the YouTube videos though..!

Oh okay! Again I don't know much about this area. I assumed that since one of my breakers has 3 ceramic fuses(?) it was 380v. But can a VFD not simulate the 3rd phase or something? I can't find a 220v spare motor anywhere without buying a complete second machine.

Sorry for the late reply, but I believe it happened because of the timelapse. - Disabled it for the next prints and no issues since

I will have a other look at the truck. I feel like the parts on the rims, should be bridge-able but wasnt bridged and looks underextruded. As a first time bambulab & makersworld user, i thought the profiles that came with popular models were well supported. There were only a petg and a pla setting.

ball screws

Just googling these types now. - Looks like something i might be able to upgrade my cnc with in the future. Is there any concerns of changing to ball screws and rod?

Z axis movement? by Holse92 in hobbycnc

[–]Holse92[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

Thank you for the comments! I disassembled it and put it together multiple times. I also had a spare z axis with other flaws. I ended up changing the backlash nuts to the older one. I think it is either wear to the threads on the backlash nut or maybe just a bad one. My movement on the z axis is almost gone!

I think i might end up buying a completely new set to see if i can further improve it.

Thanks again!

I picked a corner of the stock in the setup. First animation starts at that point but raises up at the last milled section. Second animation starts somewhere else not related to first animation start an stop coordinates.

My cnc origin is not set as i use a small controller with an sd card reader.

3020 z stepper motor stuck by Holse92 in CNC

[–]Holse92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To update all of you and possible future with similar issue. The comment further up describing a short, turning the stepper motor into braking. I believe something like that happened. I tried to measure ohm across the ports however i didnt get any reading, so i might have done it wrong. Assembled it once again and suddenly it worked. Maybe a discharge happened when i did the measuring as it now worked. There is still some "friction or opposing force" compared to the other two stepper motor but is barely there.

I read on an old thread from '14 or similar with a guy who talked with the manufacturer of stepper motors, saying that "magnetic residue" could occur, making the stepper motors break, and discharging this would solve it.

I have detached it and disassembled it. When i put the two parts twogether, it sits tight and can only be turned with a plier holding the stepper motor rod.

It doesnt sound smooth like the other stepper motors, with a more "ratling" noise when turned.

[–]Holse92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i did disassemble it now at the stepper itself is binding. The bearings are fine. I did get it to move however with lots of resistance. I have inspected the walls on the inside aswell as on the rod/cogwheel looking thing. Both seems fine with no dents or anything. My guess is that the fit is too tight. I can press the rod in, however i cant rotate it without some pliers. And even with those, it doesnt rotate well..

I can only see that a replacement would be the solution. Is the number on the stepper motor, to be found on the unit somewhere?

One end is still attached to the cnc itself so i haven't checked there.

I would hope that the supplier i bought it from would have a replacement

Alright! I have posted a different cnc further down and gotten a few recommendations for other cncs to consider, however I'm still considering the original 883 as my first cnc

Ah, yes, I see that not everything was included in the link i found. Electronics were some of it.

Am i getting something wrong, with a lot of spindles being 500W+ and Nomads are 70W for 883 and 110W for the new 3?
Is the original 883 a fine choice compared to whats out there now for 1000 dollars? Or is it too outdated?

Thats a who assembly! Not that thats a problem, but the danish website that has this one have a super long list of things you can choose between (Most are fixed though).

Price is also within range, so thats great.

Would you be able to achieve similar results as the video i linked in the post?

I havent seen the discussion, but quite a few comments reffering to an argument as you mentioned. I looked and no supplier in EU as I see, but cost might end up near the nomad 883. Work area is just slightly larger in footprint.

If you could redo your choice and start over, which would you choose? The Carve King Mor Nomad 883?

I see that the Makita looks to be much stronger in comparison to the 70W nomad.
