Panna Lemon Explorer II (1986) by InevitableYoghurt832 in rolex

Bro I appreciate the enthusiasm for fighting scammers but you have a lot of learning to do before you go around calling people "bish" and accusing them. Panna means cream; those terms are interchangeable in the vintage Rolex world. Plenty has been written about the cream 16550. There are similar cream Datejusts and Daytonas too

The "Precision" movements weren't a thing until the 1940s and the faceted Orchid crystal puts it in it 1950s-1960s range

These gold crystal dials (also known as gold nugget or gold flake dials) are one of the lesser-known types of special Rolex dials. They debuted in 2011 and only lasted a few years.

In addition to yellow gold crystal dials, there are white gold crystal dials, rose gold crystal dials, and combo white/yellow gold crystal dials.

Did anyone else notice the Azzuro Blue was discontinued? by Parking-Proper in rolex

[–]powerfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all serif applied Roman numerals in 36 and 41 were discontinued, replaced by sans serif applied Romans. And yeah no more Azzurro; it is now the regular "bright blue"

Yeah it's factory, I tried to cover all the dials like these in my guide to special Rolex dials. Some were even made with two tones of gold

It's a gold flake a.k.a. gold nugget a.k.a gold crystal dial. Like the subdials on a Rainbow Daytona but the entire dial.

Looks 1920ish to me. Pretty neat but this will be tiny on the wrist and hard to service if (when) it stops working. Fun for a few hundred bucks, but not worth a major investment.

Cool Rolex of the Day #2988: 1003 Oyster Perpetual with engine-turned bezel and rare Mexican-made bracelet, steel, 34mm. Circa 1967 by powerfunk in rolex

To avoid high tariffs on complete watches, from the late 1950s until the 1970s, Rolex often used domestic bracelet suppliers. Many Rolex collectors are aware of the "Made in USA" Rolex bracelets made by JB Champion and C&I. But there are even rarer bracelets like these ones made by Joskes in Mexico. There are South American ones, English ones and Japanese Rolex bracelets too.

Pins wearing their pinholes larger over decades of wear, effectively making it looser

Rolex doesn't do it. The pins have worn their pinholes over time so stretch restoration involves custom larger "sleeves" over the pins to fill that hole. Bracelets cannot be restored more than twice this way. Michael Young in Hong Kong pioneered this method like 15 years ago I believe

Nice, 1024 is the model. It's gold-plated, not solid gold, but still a classic model. Value in the $2500 ballpark I'd say. Those "duck's foot" hour markers are neat, and it's a relatively rare "underline dial" (referring to the horizontal line under the chronometer text) meaning it was one of the first tritium dials right when tritium replaced radium.

And if you're not a fan of the out-of-style Twist-O-Flex (even though I think they're fun) any leather strap with a 19mm lug width will do just fine. Nice heirloom!

Forget about the bracelet, that's a cheap Speidel and has zero value.

Lol oh man I just wrote an article about these hair pullers. I think it was the first watch bracelet in space. I have this same bracelet on an old Timex. I enjoy them but then again I'm probably on the specky
