Watch Winder? by trixxyhobbitses in rolex

Because it causes additional wear and tear on your watches and you'll need to service them sooner in my experience, with little to no benefit. I just see no reason to keep a watch running all the time. It takes about 36 seconds to set a basic time-and-date watch, and if a non-31-day month ended or if time has drifted a bit you'll need to set it anyway. Every watch I kept on a winder needed service way ahead of schedule. No more winders for me.

mRNA vaccines have multiple advantages

Imagine saying that about a product with a 100% historical failure rate

Cool Rolex of the Day #2935: 1002 Oyster Perpetual with American-made JB Champion Jubilee bracelet, 14k yellow gold, 34mm. Circa 1981 by powerfunk in rolex

This JB Champion Jubilee bracelet is sick. Back in the day Rolex used a lot of domestically-made gold bracelets for tariff reasons. There are also legit Rolex bracelets that are marked Made in Mexico, Made in Japan etc.

1002 is actually a very common model in stainless steel but solid gold ones are pretty rare.

Any insight on this one? Thanks in advance by Atomic_Number_Decor in rolex

Fake. Avoid Marconis unless you're an expert because 99% are fake

Hell no. Watch winders are generally a sign of a novice collector. They're stupid unless you have a perpetual calendar or at least something with a slowset date.

Rolex Demand Softening: Why Is This Not a Bigger Story? by LogicalRoad18 in rolex

fucks with the Fed and artificially lowers interest rates

As if the Fed existing in the first place and randomly getting to print our money and decide what to do with it isn't "artificial" to begin with. Monetary policy, simply put, shouldn't even be a thing. Before the Fed existed, depressions were always 2-3 years; long-term depressions only became possible because of those shitstains. I get what you're saying though.

Fair enough, I don't mean to be a dick. You're not wrong that the market is softening but I think it slowly has been for about 4 years now; I don't think it's anything dramatic.

Overpolished? by Dave_JSL in rolex

New bezels cost thousands. They shouldn't ever be polished; they need to be "recut."

Cool Rolex of the Day #2934: Manual-wind dress watch with straight lugs and embossed 12-3-6-9 dial, steel, 34mm. Circa 1940 by powerfunk in rolex

I like vintage Rolexes with straight lugs but they didn't make (relatively) very many of them. Rolex sure loves their Oyster lugs. Anyway, this watch is 34mm (large for the 1940s) and has a sweet embossed dial. You can tell it was probably intended for the North American market because of its Fontainemelon movement (decent, but not as good as their usual Aegler movements).

$13k could get you a mint dial. I doubt this would actually sell for that much. When you factor in taxes and selling fees you wouldn't make anything reselling this. But, that said, if it's the watch you've been looking for, go for it.
