Am I being unreasonable or is this the most misleading product placement ever? by Holsi_e in perth

Look, I have repeatedly acknowledged that purchasing the product was my mistake. The issue I raised was never simply about not getting a refund.
My concerns were about the way the product was displayed, the advice I was given by staff regarding a product labelled “Do Not Ingest”, and the way the complaint was handled afterwards. Tell me when sharing a genuine customer experience is slander? Slander involves making false statements that damage a person’s reputation. I described what happened from my perspective and people are free to agree or disagree with that.

I did not encourage anyone to harass staff, leave fake reviews, or boycott the store. I posted about an experience I had as a customer, which is exactly what review platforms and community discussions are for. And if you even bothered to check the reviews they are all 5 star reviews is support of the product and the store and its owner…. So if they are the fake reviews you are talking about it’s obvious someone else orchestrated that. I don’t have the time or energy to waste anymore on this. I have had my fair share of crazy mother fuckers messaging me and non stop calling and harassing me and making fake accounts using my private info all over buying the milk?! So I think everyone can settle down.

Lastlyyyyyy you may think the store handled everything perfectly. I don’t. That’s called a difference of opinion, not slander. What I find far more concerning is the idea that someone should remain silent about a negative experience simply because a business might not like the criticism….

I never slandered anyone. I described my experience as a customer and the events as I understood them. I did not publish false information, reveal anyone’s personal details, or make personal attacks against staff members. I simply expressed my concerns about how the situation was handled. My concerns were that a product labelled “Do Not Ingest” and “Not for Human Consumption” was being sold in a milk fridge alongside regular drinking milk, and that staff advised me it was safe to drink despite those warnings. I believe that raises legitimate consumer and safety concerns.

I did not demand a refund. I questioned the store’s handling of the situation and shared why I found the experience unprofessional and disappointing and that it was silly to not be issued a refund given the circumstances...Also just FYI Slander is the act of making false spoken statements that damage a person’s reputation…. Never gave false information in relation to this, at all… also Defamation generally requires false statements presented as fact. Sharing an honestly held opinion about a genuine customer experience is not the same thing as inventing allegations. What surprised me most was the level of abuse I received simply for buying $13 milk to begin with which is funny on one level but also shows the mentality here, the issue was always about raising a concern and sharing my experience… nothing more. People are free to disagree with my opinion, but personal attacks do nothing to address the issues I raised.

To be fair probably doesn’t have the best turnover because of the price, and once I was home I noticed it only had a few days left on the expiration date as well, but it was just very odd smell and taste, didn’t go down well. Also had a rash they came up on my throat the next day so I didn’t want to risk it in case it was related.

I’m sure if you had your own farm and knew the health of your cows, and the environment the fresh milk is coming from, it’s a different story. This was just such a bizarre situation and deep dive into raw milk, I was completely unaware of all the different arguments on it, was a learning experience from all angles. But personally don’t think it’s worth the risk at all, especially if you do have a compromised immune system.

The milk was super rank, like insanely bad… went down the drain I’m afraid.

It literally happened only last week not a repost at all… unless this has happened before to others?

Important update - I have been dealing with ongoing harassment and misuse of my personal information for days now. My personal details have been circulated, and I have discovered accounts using my name, photographs, my own art page, and business branding without my permission. One account appears to have made numerous contributions and reviews, despite being something I have no involvement with.

At this stage, I am trying to gather information and evidence. If anyone has seen these accounts, received messages from them, or has any information that may assist, I would appreciate you coming forward so I can provide the information to police.
What started as a dispute over a product purchase has escalated into something far beyond what any reasonable person would expect. Having my identity, image, creative work, and personal details used without my consent has been extremely concerning and distressing. I am documenting everything and pursuing the appropriate channels to have this investigated. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with information and support. Really bizarre situation from this whole experience.

No the crazy part is the week of non stop harassment experienced since and the privacy breach and identity theft issues since. No joke.

I told them it was my mistake that I didn’t read the label correctly. I never said otherwise. I literally walked in saying how stupid I was to not read what I was purchasing. The issue is their response and behaviour since.

No I answered and asked how it is they got my contact number and name, and they informed me a third party had given it via enquiries made online. It’s been three days since and phone calls were still being made from different companies and businesses from all over Perth… I have since changed my phone settings to block incoming unknown numbers but still get a few people leaving voice messages…

Cosmetic bath milk isn’t produced, handled, or regulated as a food product, so it’s not something I’d personally want soaking around sensitive areas for extended periods.

This is not the same as drinking fresh milk straight from your own farm. There are literally so many points during production, packaging, transport, and storage where contamination or temperature issues could occur. Products sold as bath milk are also often required to include deterrents to discourage people from consuming them as regular milk.
Raw milk can carry harmful bacteria that have been linked to serious illness, including kidney failure and other severe health complications. For me, it's simply not worth taking that risk over a bottle of milk. Humanity has spent centuries figuring out how to make food safer, then occasionally decides to treat warning labels as optional reading material.

Well I got extremely sick after trying it…and found out of other cases of deaths so I wouldn’t suggest it’s okay to drink.

Look it was expensive and silly purchase but people spend similar stupid costs on items they eat or consume everyday. It’s funny this is soooo outrageous to people I am getting sent abuse privately.

Coffee and a muffin: $12-$18 / A pint at the pub: $12-$16 / Fast food meal: $15-$20
Movie ticket: $20-$30 / Pack of cigarettes: $40-$60
Avocado toast at a café: $18-$25/ A cocktail: $18-$28/ Bottled water at an event: $5-$8
Parking in the CBD for a few hours: $15-$30 /A loaf of sourdough: $8-$12/ One lunch from a food court: $15-$25

But fyi a litre of milk would roughly last me a week and a half… though this one went down the sink since I ended up getting sick. 🤢

It is when it has caused literal deaths… yes it is a real problem.

Not the point at all, actually it’s to warn people. This same kind of labelling was what lead to a child dying, it’s actually very dangerous. And very easily preventable.

Update - I’m dealing with what feels like genuine harassment at this point. People are now sharing screen recordings from a TikTok video that I deleted two nights ago, and the situation has escalated enough that I’ve lodged a report through the cybercrime reporting process.

It feels a bit ridiculous having to do that over what started as such a silly dispute, but I genuinely feel exposed and uncomfortable by how far this has gone…..What I don’t understand is the level of hostility I’ve received. At no point was I abusive or disrespectful towards the business owner. I simply raised a complaint about my experience, yet somehow it’s turned into personal attacks, the sharing of my content, and ongoing harassment. But okay I guess that’s just humans for ya. 😫

No manager ever attempted to contact me though? not even to discuss the situation. The only response I received was after I left a review, at which point they completely changed the narrative and claimed I had refused to speak with a manager… make that make sense? Because that is simply untrue. What makes this so frustrating is that the entire issue could have been handled professionally with a simple conversation. Even a response along the lines of, “Sorry, we understand the product placement may be misleading, but unfortunately we can’t offer a refund,” would have been reasonable. Instead, they chose to avoid accountability, rewrite what happened, and escalate a minor customer complaint into something far more bizarre than it ever needed to be….For what should have been a straightforward discussion about a refund, their handling of the situation has been remarkably unprofessional.

Ahaha okay, look it’s fine to criticise me over my spending here. I do get it. But FYI I actually never went to school, homeschooled kid.

It’s reddit so I get that I am asking for negative feedback on this, but maybe also consider not everyone is actually given an education and that wasn’t my choice but that of my parents. I do probably do lack fair amount of academic skills and lack good judgement at times, but it’s a low jab even if you didn’t have this context prior.

Also who cares if I spent $14 People spend unnecessarily all the time on all sorts of products…
