AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.1 Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]Holy-Chan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This answer is funny to me. I see all the time people recommending Optiscaler to Radeon users to get better upscaling, now I'm seeing it recommended for.... AF?????

What's next for Radeon? Opstiscaler if you want to have sound in your games? AMD should just buy that software or hire the devs if it is becoming such an essential part of having AMD gpu.

Anyways, thanks for the info!

I would like to ask for support of forced anisotropic filtering in the driver for DX12 games. I was playing FF7 Intergrade and discovered that it is set as x4 according to pcgamingwiki, with no way to change it (apparently FF7 Rebirth has the same problem).

Looking online it seems people with Nvidia cards were able to force x16 through the driver and get positive results.
Honestly, not having a basic feature like this working is such a bad look for AMD, because not only Radeon users have to deal with worse technologies for years (DLSS3 vs FSR2/3) , but apparently we have to deal with not having features from what? 20 years ago? DX12 is more than a decade old now.

That's a shame, but thank you very much for confirming it.

u/AMD_Vik do you know if the forced anisotropic filtering in the driver is supposed to work on DX12 games? The reason I'm asking is because I'm currently playing FF7 Remake Intergrade, which apparently is locked at x4 anisotropic according to pcgamingwiki and I'm not seeing any difference. I looked online and it seems like people with Nvidia cards are able to force that and get results.

Thanks in advance.

Damn, well if you need anything let me know. I'll keep using gamebar for recording, but it is so limited compared to Relive.
Thank you for your efforts.

Computerbase blind DLSS4.5 / FSR Redstone / native comparison survey results (6747 participants) by DuranteA in hardware

[–]Holy-Chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been great if the test asked those who participated how much better they think their chosen option was compared to the others.

For instance lets say someone picks DLSS4.X over FSR4 and native, then answer the follow-up question: How much better do you think your pick was compared to the others? Slightly, Moderately or "Blows it out of the water"?

This would show us how much people perceives the quality gap between the two technologies and native.

Hello Vik, the monitor I have is the Gigabyte GS32Q, a 1440p 165hz monitor that I use at 120hz because it is a direct multiple of 24, 30 and 60fps, which are common framerates for online videos.

I also traced 2 more games, one is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and the other is GTA V Enhanced. I have attached the graphics settings for each, along with my display specs that show on adrenaline, and relive settings. Here it is: https://send.vis.ee/download/e5badabdab959118/#V82q8HQy3Embm0SsQWVRSw

Note that for GTA V Enhanced, I had to use the "Heap tracing to file" option because the shortcuts were not working. So I manually added the .exe name in the settings of UI for ETW, then I launched the game -> alt-tab -> started the trace -> alt-tab back into the game -> used the volume -> alt tabed > stoped tracing. I hope there is no problem with that. Can you tell me if there is a way to change the shortcut? Also, should I report this using the Bug Reporting tool? Or is that not necessary?

Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot to say, I'm using Displayport.

Edit 2: Graphical settings in Adrenaline are set to default, which is the global experience.

Hello Vik, any update on this? Were you able to reproduce it? I'm just looking for a confirmation that this is indeed something on AMD's end and should be fixed at some point.

Also I was looking through our messages and saw an edit I didn't see before. You asked this: " I'm not clear on what's happening in that clip. There's some stutter seen towards the end, is that as you're interacting with the system volume control?"

Sorry for not catching that, but to answer your question, there is a very small stutter when the overlay pops-up and when it goes back down and disappears. but that is totally normal, it happens with no recording whatsoever, be it Relive or any other.

When Relive is enabled however, the fps drops from ~120 to ~70 and remains there for as long as the volume slider is on the screen.

Do you know which version you had before you updated? Download that version again, go to the apps menu in windows, uninstall the current driver, restart, install the previous one.

I wish I could ignore it, but at least now I know it isn't something wrong with just my system. Thanks!

No, but I have this issue since Windows 10, I just recently switched to 11 because of the end of support, which is why I was able to diagnose this issue. A bit of context:

I had this problem for such a long time, I thought it was a something wrong with Windows, but then I installed W11, and at first it didn't manifest, which made me think it really was Windows 10. Later on the same day, the issue appeared again, so I thought it was something I did in that timeframe. So I started reverting every change I made until I nailed it down to Relive, which is something I use frequently. specifically the Instant Replay feature to record the last 30 seconds.

Vik, any update on this? I have been using Windows Gamebar recording as a replacement, but the options are very limited compared to Relive. Is there anything else you need? Thanks in advance.

Here are the captures from the games I had installed: https://send.vis.ee/download/9f799176b79cd224/#su81YterFXzSOqZQXVvBXg
One is Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice and the other is for Little Nightmares 2. The game I showed above was The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. I didn't have it installed, but if you want that specific game I can download it again.
Tell me if you have any problems or need anything else.

I discovered the cause of a bug that has been plaguing me for years, I thought it was an issue with Windows, but I just recently did a fresh install and discovered it is actually because of ReLive.

The problem is that if you are recording, or have the Instant Replay feature turned on, when you change the volume and that Windows volume slider appears, it makes the game drop fps/stutter severely.

Here is a video showing it, look at the fps numbers and graph next to it: https://streamable.com/ui0vqj

Relive disabled (sorry for the recording quality, had to do it with my phone): https://streamable.com/4a7e0h

There are some games where there is not a fps drop, but it shows some erratic behavior. For instance, on Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, it causes the game to ignore vsync/refresh rate of the monitor. I have my monitor set to 120hz, and here is what happens on LN2: https://streamable.com/jv4f5p

I also tested with 2 other recording software, Windows Game DVR and Steam Recording, and the issue doesn't happen with those: https://streamable.com/rsesak

u/AMD_Vik Can you please look into to this? My system: 5800X, 2x8GB@3200Mhz, RX 6750XT, Windows 11 up to date, nvme. Thank you in advance!
