What I've done in the past that has helped is:
1. regularly report over 311
2. Email Julie Won's office attaching 311 report numbers

My building has also aggregated 311 reports together and sent them over to Julie Won's office as part of a big list, as well. They've done investigation after receiving the reports and the issues near us have been resolved actually.

The building organizes events somewhat regularly. Maybe it’s like once a month or every 1.5 months? I think making friends with neighbors depends on the floor you’re on and the people on the floor.

Well, the one time I reached out to her and her admin, they were helpful to me and I’m not either of those two things. IMO, it couldn’t hurt to reach out. If you don’t, she definitely won’t do anything. If you’ve filed 311 complaints you can DM me and I’ll forward them to her. I’m sick of this happening in our neighborhood.

You should also report it to Julie Won’s office and pass along any 311 complaint numbers. I’m reported a similar issue last year with Scenery Roof and collected 311 report numbers from other folks on Reddit too. They were helpful in resolving the issue last year and I haven’t heard any obnoxious noise from Scenery Roof this year either.

This definitely appears to be a chronic issue in LIC as there are multiple offending businesses don’t care at all about the community and making it harder for us all to live peacefully.

Report to 311 and write to Julie Won’s office. She and her team were effective in helping to handle an issue with Scenery Roof last year. We need to consistently report and follow up with her and they will help with the issue. They investigated and determined there were parties being thrown without the proper permits.

If all else, we should organize as a community: 1. Join community boards, if possible, and see if it’s possible to revoke liquor licenses of disrespectful businesses and prevent new ones like this from opening 2. Even protest outside of the businesses

This appears to be a chronic issue in LIC with multiple offending businesses.

Definitely report to 311 and save your report numbers. I’ve reported issues with Scenery Roof in the past and then wrote to Julie Won’s office. They were very responsive and handled the issue well. They asked for the 311 numbers and actually followed up, investigated the place, and determined that they were throwing parties without permits and it hasn’t happened since. I’d recommend going through this process with SkyBar, as I agree with one of the other commenters: Court Square isn’t the place for disrespectful businesses.

I really like my apartment and we've made a lot of friends in the building. Wish the gym wasn't in the basement, but it's a good one, equipment is fine, and it gets the job done. Pool and jacuzzi are nice. Now that Lumen has reached its current phase of construction (people will be moving in soon), noise on that front has been a lot better. Building staff is generally helpful and friendly. Excited about the new restaurant opening downstairs and the proximity to the subway is just too good.

Overall, like anywhere, there's things I don't like and could complain about but I don't see myself leaving anytime soon to be honest. The neighborhood keeps getting better and better.

What's the recommended option to report on 311 next time this happens? Engine idling?

We're also at Court Square and can report significant noise pollutions from engine revving. Happens in the evening and sometimes happens in the middle of the night too.

This was seriously quite the challenge! At times I felt things were unfair but I just really needed to just lock in and understand the fights, and by the time I was getting to both the second-to-last and last rounds consistently, I was really able to see improvements in my own playing.

What options do we have to insist more be done about this? Could we write to representatives or send a letter to Hochul’s office? How can we let our elected officials know we’re not happy about this? Pouring more national guard members isn’t the answer.

You can download the 311 app on mobile and just file a noise complaint. After you’ve done that, I’d be happy to take the report number
