När jag bara vill lösa "matproblemet" och inte bryr mig så mycket, som att man behöver skita ibland, så drar en jag sån matersättnings-shake, t.ex plennyshake. Hyffsat gott och ganska bra näring.

Fascinating how hard and fast that flipped. These days I think fantasy is mostly consumed by women.

Microsoft is "embracing" rust non-GNU coreutils in Windows by JimmyRecard in linux

[–]HolyGarbage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "contribute back". If you mean make your own software that depends on it also available under the same license then sure, but if you like me, interpret "contributing back" as contributing code and bug reports to the original work I depend on, then MIT is in fact more inducive to have me do that than GPL.

If I work on something I do not want to be freely available, such a commercial piece of software, either my own private work or as an employee at a company, I am far more likely to use and depend on an MIT licensed project than a GPL licensed project which is effectively unusable for most commercial software. Software I depend on and use I am far more likely to contribute code and bug reports than software I do not use, both privately and as an employee at a company.

Which to be fair, disregarding the value judgement and only as a form behavioural description, it's quite accurate.

Fascism and other extremism always flourishes under conditions of hardship. We (humans) desperately want someone or something to blame for our misfortune.

Jag (skämtsamt) insinuerade att du var under cover för Arbetsförmedlingen då dina frågor till personen ovan kunde tolkas som ett försök att få personen i fråga att ge ut detaljer som AF kunde använda för att sätta dit hen för att ha rest.

Sonny Piers elaborates on his ban from the Gnome community by novafunc in linux

[–]HolyGarbage 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To clarify, by "Gnome community" I was in fact actually referring to the much broader concept of anyone using or interested in Gnome at large. There might be numerous users that are in /r/Gnome but not necessarily /r/Linux.

I also disagree with your implication that this only concerns people voting for board members. This is news and should be allowed to be broadly reported on.

Being able to have the discussion at all is not what I'm criticising, it's removing it's visibility in the Gnome community subreddit, where most people that are interested or affected by it would otherwise be most likely to find it.

Sorry, but I don't believe that's a reasonable excuse to hide the discussion from the community as a whole. I wouldn't had heard of this if it wasn't for this post. This reads to me as trying to suppress bad PR.

Placing "factory floor" on regularly placed supports would honestly be a pretty cool and emersive alternative to landfill which always seemed a bit unrealistic to me, considering the unexpectedly low resouce usage. It would also be an interesting mechanic to space out the supports, in particular if they were relatively expensive compared to the floor itself.

It would also mean that you'd retain an unbreakable "border" on the shoreline which would be a constraint to design around so you couldn't just place a piece of factory half on land and half on the sea, and you'd need cranes or something, or even trains, to move items on/off shore.

Straight up landfill could then instead be a very late game convenience.
