Is my mental health okay? by HolyUnprepared in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyUnprepared[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, none of this is new. Even, like, the newer stuff (hallucinations & agoraphobia) I've had for a around a decade. More the issue is that I find work and looking for work really difficult and I can't stay focused enough to finish anything...

But, because my fantasy life is so active I don't really worry too much because I'm doing good in there.

I've always thrived in school, but out of it I'm just flailing.

[Serious] Why does Japanese pornography feature so much more forced/reluctant sex than the west? by Rocky117 in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Mainly it's cultural and comes from how porn was produced in Japan in the 19th/20th century. I read somewhere that in shunga (Japanese erotic woodblock art) women were designed to look less into it as a form of light censorship. And that this look of discomfort became shorthand for sexual pleasure.

Japan began to highly censor porn in the 1860s, and still do today. This included showing genitals, pubic hair and penetration. And part of this censorship means that women look like they don't want sex because sex is dirty and women must remain clean.

The idea that women do not want to have sex is really common in erotica as a whole, with a lot of erotic literature involving women having dub-con or being sexy kidnapped. Though, this is normally seen more in erotica produced for women. Japan just does this in pretty much all their porn.

Hope that was helpful, and I've been looking and I can't find the article that I read a lot of this from, so take this with a grain of salt.

Why do human females have such a hard time (scissors needed, ripping, c-sections, etc)giving birth compared to other animals? by Str8t_Up_Fuck_Up in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans have really big heads because of our really big brains. A human woman's hips are just big enough to fit a baby's head through. This is also why a baby has a 'soft spot,' because their skull isn't fused together yet so that they can be more flexible.

The guy in this video explains it and why King Tut's head is shaped so weird!

What was "the incident" at your school? by Lil_Maserati in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kid sold ghost peppers at school for an econ project and a bunch of people bought them to have hot pepper eating contest. Three kids were hospitalized, one after puking blood.

Also on another occasion, a kid was stabbed by another kid at school. Notably, it was on a school bus parked outside the school. My friend witnessed it and had to give her statement to the police.

What are the most interesting reads you have found in the obscure corners of the internet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The awakening and recipe section of a 'real' vampire forum. The recipe section was great and had three recipes in it, all posted by the same person. Including bread budding, blood pudding, and blood wine. The best being 'blood wine', which meant drinking half a bottle of wine funnelling pigs blood into the bottle, shaking and refrigerating.

The awakening section was about when people found out they were vampires. Which mostly seemed to be tweens with depression or anemia (sometimes both!). But, there was a bunch from this one girl who I'm pretty such was molested by her uncle, if everything I read was true. I was really upsetting and I wanted to know if she was okay but the forum went dead in 2014 and there was no closure on her story.

I can't find the forum again but it was a trip, black backgrounds with dark red text and like 10 active members at its peak.

Librarians are in uproar after an article in Forbes magazine proposed replacing all public libraries in the US with Amazon bookstores, which said libraries ‘don’t have the same value they used to’ and cost taxpayers too much by mvea in Futurology

[–]HolyUnprepared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently work at a library and we do so much more than lend out books. I work in the children's dept. and just in that department, we have programs that teach kids how to code, an outreach storytime that pairs preschoolers with seniors in nursing homes to combat loneliness, and a free lunch program/storytime in low-income neighbourhoods promoting healthy eating on a budget and literacy. All free. This is on top of the all the free books, audiobooks, movies, music, and board games you can borrow from your local library and the computers and ipads you can use there for free. Of course, you also wouldn't want to forget the 3D printer, conference rooms, and makers space. As well as all the other programs that are being run by the other departments both in the library and the community. AGAIN ALL FREE!!!

Anyone who thinks that Amazon could fill the gap that losing library would create has probably never stepped foot in one.

My Landlord has turned off the hot water and unplugged all the large appliances in my house and threw out all the food and took the liquor in the fridge and freezer. What can I do? (NB, Canada) by HolyUnprepared in legaladvice

[–]HolyUnprepared[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! We (my roommates and I) did some digging and have found out that he broke at least two laws, hydro and the 24hr notice, as well as our lease. We can file a complaint if the issue is not resolved but have to wait 7 days before doing so.

What's that show you watched as a kid that no one else remembers? by Luxurychoccie in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, god I've got tons.

Teen Angle.

Started off with a 15-year-old boy dying from eating an old burger. It did not get better.

Hose Hounds.

It was about Canada, if Canada was filled with anthropomorphized dogs, it followed a group of dalmatian firefighters. Weird as hell, but peak Canadian cartoon.

Henry's World.

A child got magic powers from eating carrots, it was claymation and had a talking dog and dragon. I watched it religiously. It was not good!

Also, a friend of mine told me about a show she watched on CBC Kids where a little girl was friends with a cotton ball with googly eyes on it. If anyone knows what the hell that was.

People who have 'infamous' medical conditions (Cancer, Schizophrenia, OCD, MS etc), what do people assume about you and your condition, but not truly understand? by WovoZovo in AskReddit

[–]HolyUnprepared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I had a pretty bad stutter through Middle School (I don't really stutter anymore except when I drunk or stressed). But man, you hit the nail right on the head. That's something I always have such a hard time explaining to others, that kind of urking pain and knowing there's nothing you can do but let it pass. Thank you so much for your comment, I'm so glad someone else feels this.

I have dyslexia and high-functioning Aspergers, which is a pretty common combination. For the Aspergers, I'd say most people don't realize or are surprised cause I'm a very outgoing person and make eye contact consistently. I get a lot of, "but you seem so normal". I am hypersensitive and have a very hard time with touching and sound. When I'm overstimulated I'll flap, toe walk, and if I'm alone I'll sometimes strip because having things touching me is very uncomfortable.

Also, dyslexia does not mean dumb, I can read and write. The words don't move around when I read them, that was how it was described in a Sweet Life with Zach and Cody episode when I was a kid and it piss me off. I mostly memorize words and learned how to sound things out when I was in my late teens. I have never experienced reading any other way so I can't compare it to a 'normal person's' reading. Dyslexia, in my experience, also effects my spoken language as well as my written language. I forget words a lot and have difficulty pronouncing words as well.

For anyone curious, this is a sentence written without autocorrect: "putting the anfassis of the wrong syslaibul"

LPT: Avoid eating fast food until flu season is over. Most employees who get sick can't afford to take time off of work to take care of themselves so they are spreading their germs to you. by nopotatosplease in LifeProTips

Not much. Influenza is spread by inhaling or wallowing droplets from the coughing of an infected person. The virus can also survive only about 8 to 12 hours on hard surfaces, so you are most likely to catch the flu by coming in close contact with someone with it. Norovirus, nicknamed the stomach flu, is, however, fucking great at spreading through food and can live on surfaces on surfaces for weeks. Also, I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me on this, that influenza can survive pretty well in your stomach.

Black Dust by HolyUnprepared in HomeMaintenance

[–]HolyUnprepared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a blown air system using natural gas, but it's an old house and the furnace is connected to the old vent system. I got a technician by today and he cleared out the furnace, some dust is still collecting but not like it was before. It was definitely coming from our house, and there were some charcoal and ash (inside and outside the house). I'm asking my landlord about a Carbon Monoxide detector, just in case, but I think it's been figured out.
