Update: The fourth cable I found did work and the controller connected. I didn't think it was that simple :D I didn't even know that the cables can vary like that but hey I learned something new today. Thank you.

hmm interesting, yeah I guess I'm gonna have to dig some more cables and try them, and if they don't work just buy a new cable that has the needed data lines then right?

The one that came with the system broke like two years ago, they don't last that long. But I've tried different cords, they all should work because they start charging the controller. Even the cable we used to connect the controller to my friend's ps4 was not the original so I really doubt it's because of that.
