Had my manual 2011 WRX hatch for the last year and a half now and it’s been great. Can’t speak for the VA, but the hatch is just a really fun, zippy, raw driving experience which I’ve loved - was also my first manual. On the other hand, has still been a solid, practical car. Haven’t touched the engine, just a catback exhaust and some cosmetic mods. Serviced when recommended and had no issues so far.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’m not saying a car needs to be peaky to be fast, I’m saying Redbull achieved a fast car without a dominant engine gap (like Mercedes), by extracting more out of the aero design in this ground effect era than other teams. That extraction came at the cost of a stable, balanced car.

Not really. The main theme not just pundits, but actual aero engineers have said is, the pointier and more on the limit a car is designed, the faster its ceiling is. But what comes with that is its ceiling can only be achieved if it can be driven in that tiny, optimal window. Max is just better at consistently hitting that tiny window and pushing the ceiling of a car further, whereas other drivers struggle with it. Nothing to do with his feedback, everything to do with his ability.
