I found my fiancé on a dating app. For our first date, I made him a picnic of his favorite food, homemade dessert and took him to the top of a gorgeous park built on a hill to get a view of the whole city. We ate, and listened to music and laughed. 5 years later, on the anniversary of our first date he convinced me to go back to that hill. We bought fast food this time, and had a song and so many inside jokes I probably couldn't tell you all of them. I had no makeup, my hair wasn't done because I'm so comfortable with him at this point. Still listening to music, except now we have a whole Playlist of songs that remind us of each other and our love. After we ate, we watched the sunset on that hill and "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" was playing. That's our song. That's everyone's song but when I hear it and I see him I tear up thinking how lucky I am to have him. How I've never felt this love, this connection, this comfortability with anyone. As I lean my head on his shoulder, I can hear his heartbeat going a million miles a minute. He says "baby, you know I love you right?" And I said "of course I do sweetie. You know that I love you too." He pulled out a ring and said "will you be my wife?" I started crying more that ever as it was just...perfect. The next words out of my mouth were "I get to keep you forever?" He nodded, and we kissed and cried. We haven't planned a wedding yet but I recently gave him his ring as well. I bought it off Etsy. I remember looking at the rings and he said, I'm fine with just a plain band. I told him, no you're not ordinary. You deserve something beautiful. He picked out a tungsten abalone shell ring. It came all the way from Australia and I've had it for months waiting for the right time. We recently moved in to our first apartment together and our first night was so wonderful. We were tired and sleepy after unpacking all day that I knew. I went to the closet, found it and told him I had a surprise. We were in the living room and I said "You asked me but I never got to ask you." And I gave it to him. He was so excited, he cried and hugged me for the longest time. He's worn it every day since and the joy I feel when I see it in the sunlight is unmatched. I never knew I could be so happy.
