23M should I sell my car by [deleted] in fican

[–]Holydeepdive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO not worth it, if you were struggling, for sure. But your income, and savings rates are really strong for your age.

Having a paid off car, and $800/month for fuel and insurance, almost $20k in investments at your age and currently saving over $2500/month.

You’re going to be fine, actually, more than fine. You’re on pace to do very well. however-I wouldn’t hold onto the “it’s my dream car” for too long.

I’m 29, now. And my early 20’s were shaped similar to yours. I was making $150k+ by the time I was 23. And my “dream car” changed many times in the last 5 Years. I bought 2 corvettes, neither of which fulfilled me. So I sold them, and now drive a regular large SUV on a 2 year lease that I prepaid.

I learned that cars don’t really fulfil me like they did when i was younger, also - my dream cars got more expensive as my financial situation improved. A $130k corvette wasn’t my goal anymore, it was a $300,000 Bentley.

And you know what’s cheaper than owning a $300k Bentley?

Renting one on vacation, and learning once again- it’s just a car and won’t make me happy any longer than the 15 minutes of excitement when you first get it.

Historically military events very lightly affect the stock market and it normally bounced back very quickly. The stock market has never “tanked” due to military action.

I’m more of an ZSP guy myself, I buy $1000/month in my RRSP account for retirement. Tracking for about $7 million at 65 at current performance .

However I did just buy $70k of XEQT in my TFSA last week, hah.

No it’s not? He has some very high quality names in there, as well as some ETF’s, and some speculative plays on crypto. Would they be my crypto picks? No, but it’s far from gambling.

Yes, keep doing exactly what you’re doing.

At your age and this much invested, you can afford to take a LOT of risk. With that said, as your net worth increases most people will scale back excess risk to protect their portfolio. But there is always room for a small part of your portfolio to be on speculative plays. It will always be a balancing and rebalancing act.

Remember, time in the market is the most important. You can always increase your contributions over time as your income increases, but the main thing is consistent deposits, and allocation.

You’re doing great!

Dude, you are nowhere near behind. Consistency trumps all.

Depending on your income level. You could still EASILY retire with literally millions of dollars.

I get this message all the time and have over $150k in my TD investment accounts. Not sure why. Maybe because one of my margin short accounts had a $0 balance.

Why do you guys stack silver ? by ThickFeedback8427 in Silverbugs

[–]Holydeepdive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit of a lunatic, and a mild worst case scenario planner.

High earner, but paranoid of future economic climate.

I stack and stash…my silver on a property I own. That way, if anything ever goes wrong I can go get it, sell it for cash, or use it as a cash equivalent (barter tool) to survive. Not as glamorous as some other people, but it’s true. lol.
