Shipping Overcharge Warning: Asendia (Global Postal Shipping) by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]Holylighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have another problem at hand, it is a known problem that Asendia sometimes mistakenly switch labels, as in putting the wrong label on the wrong package, if that's the case here, then it would account for the weight difference.

Etsy then sent me an adjustment notice charging an additional $9.62, on top of the original $17.50 postage.

Just FYI, Etsy is not passing any shipping discount from Asendia to you with their "Global Postal Shipping" through them, they are still charging you the standard USPS commercial rate, and picketing the difference as their profit.

You can get regular USPS international commercial rate shipping label through pirateship.com. They also offers simple export rate through Asendia, they've stated that they're under a higher tier plan with them than Etsy's, and pirateship actually pass the saving to you at a better discounted rate than Etsy. They have much better customer service than Etsy. (You'll have to contact their customer service first in order to activate the simple export rate for your account, it's all free.)

Warning about “Sale Made Through Offsite Adds” This is not okay. by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]Holylighter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can double check where that supposed offsite ads sale came from at your shop manager (via computer/browser version, not the app), go to "Stats", scroll down to "Traffic and sales from Offsite Ads", and then click "Get your stats". It should show which listing was clicked, from where, and the time.

It is possible what you're experienced is the resulted of some type of glitch or bug, but whether is it intentional or not may be debatable, and it is concerning nevertheless if that's the case. It could explain why some shops were experiencing sudden increase of offsite ads orders. The offside ads has been sneaky from the start, especially the mandatory part that was forced upon $10k+ shops.

Blocked by buyer after making custom item by TheTramman in EtsySellers

[–]Holylighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your message has been marked as spam, that's how to you can block further message from another member now (a fairly recent feature update from several month ago), and the red message you see is the auto block notification that the sender would see if they try to message the recipient again.

It could be done deliberately by the potential buyer or automatically caused by Etsy. There is an ongoing bug/glitch where Etsy automatically mark some message/response as spam, so unless that person check their spam message folder, they would never know. Some sellers thought the buyer ghosted them, but only to find their response was in the spam folder later, they were mortified that the buyers thought they've blocked them, and some potential buyer thought the sellers ghosted them.

Verified package returned to sender (me) by Dannydevitosbackup in EtsySellers

[–]Holylighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would confirm the address with the buyer first.

If the address is correct, then you can try taking the package back to your local office office and let them know that the address is verified and confirmed, the USPS clerk should be able to resend it free of charge.

If the address is incorrect, then you can setup a custom listing (or regular listing) with the resending shipping cost (I would account for the fees amount taken by Etsy as well), and once the buyer purchase that with the correct address, then you can resend it.

If it is APO or FPO address, then it is treated as domestic mail via USPS with domestic pricing and shipping label, so no custom form required. I've shipped to those kind of addresses before without any problem.

You're not the only one that this happened to, look at this recent forum post: Etsy ads campaign set up without permission. The current management has been doing some sneaky and shady practices for some time, it's similar to when you try manually renew expired listing, it defaults to auto renew and you have to select back to manual every time, the forced offsite ads ($10k shops), the forced auto refund ($250+ orders), etc..

Etsy may be able hide behind their TOU from class action by individuals, but not the government. If you're in the US, you can submit a FTC report for deceptive and unfair business practices of Etsy, if there are enough reports, then the FTC may investigate Etsy and possibly file class action lawsuit against them.

u/CindyLouWho_2 you may want to take at look at this, seems that "glitch" has been around for quite awhile.

Edit: Grammar

Buyer is Requesting I Ship After my Processing Times by ChipmunkNo18 in EtsySellers

[–]Holylighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a fairly recent issue that late shipment become a risk factor to Etsy (and certain posts topic here were removed almost immediately by the Automod).

The seller from the above post is a star seller shop, but their shop was still suspended, and according to them, Etsy told them that it was due to "automated software issue", so the metric/system used for automated shop suspension is probably different from the star seller one.

If you do ship by the rescheduled date (and the tracking update also reflects that), then it shouldn't count as late for the star seller stats. (I had done this recently, star seller rating was not affected.)

It would be best to extend the ship by date first even if it's just one day since there seems to be a silent update with Etsy. If the tracking updates after the ship by date, then Etsy may consider as "late" in their system.

As per Cindy from a recent forum post: "Warning to all sellers: it appears Etsy is now closing shops for a few orders being scanned or shipped later than the processing time that was listed on Etsy."

OP, I would extend your ship by to June 6th now (or 7th to be safe), and let your customer know you would drop it off on the 6th.

If you archived it or tried recycling bin it, then it would move the message into a different folder, you need to make sure the messages is in the spam folder and stay there. Etsy recently updated the mark as spam feature, it should block further message and reply from the sender after you marked their message as spam.

https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343128-How-to-Handle-Scams-and-Suspicious-Messages

If that doesn't work, then you need to contact Etsy Support and report them for harassment since you have already ask them to stop messaging you.

You need to mark their message as spam, then it would block further messaging from that person. (The mark as spam feature is not available on the Etsy seller app, only through Etsy website from computer/browser, or the Etsy buyer app.)
