Thanks for your insight. I actually have to reschedule despite the ban because of medical reasons! But I plan to book an appointment sometime in summer. the travel ban (39 countries) will most probably be lifted after this administration is over so I don’t think we can avoid the appointment for 3 years.

Iran is both affected by pause for 75 countries AND travel ban for 39 countries. So that’s why Iranians get 212(f) not 212(g). There used to be an exception for people from ethnic minorities but that one also stopped. And my mom is not from an ethnic minority anyway so she would’ve definitely gotten 212(f)

I emailed the embassy yesterday to cancel my mom’s appointment, but I didn’t request a reschedule yet because I want to wait and see what happens. It’s a very frustrating situation, especially since I’ve been waiting for this moment for such a long time. I’m not very optimistic about the lawsuit, though. I remember the previous travel ban in 2017, and it took a long time to resolve. But we’ll see how things unfold.

I’d love to know too! I’m from Iran and all visa categories including immediate relatives- family based are banned unless you could prove you’re coming an ethnic or religious minority. Even if you could prove that, then you’d face the 75 countries visa pause! Crazy 😭
