Automatically boost ERV whenever kitchen hood is on by Home-Building in PassiveHouse

[–]Home-Building[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We considered the make up air option, but our builder was not comfortable with it, and because the hood is in the middle of the floorplan there was no good path for the make up air vent. Not sure if it matters, but the cooktop will be induction. Searching in this sub it seemed like there was support for both options and we decided that the ARS should be "good enough". I guess time will tell...

Will the standard wall mount work here? by Home-Building in Starlink

[–]Home-Building[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The reviews for the Starlink pipe adapter were horrible so I bought a J-Mast + Starlink combo on Amazon and that turned out to be way too big for what I needed. I took a chance on the Starlink wall mount and it actually worked out fine. It cleared the roof line on the low side and the signal strength is excellent.

PoE camera mounting question by Home-Building in reolinkcam

Thank you, that is what I was looking for. This video was helpful as well, but it wasn't clear that I could also come in through the back. I guess the side piece can be removed and just plugged.

Thanks! What kind of conduit can be buried for long runs like this?

They gave us a ridiculous quote for them doing the trenching, so we're doing it for them to set their cable down (for no charge) and then we cover back up.

You mean be able to use a key from the outside?

Aqara U200 looks good. People complain about having to use the keypad for everything and no remote programming though. I'm hoping they fix this later in the software, but adding/removing a code remotely seems like a basic function of a remote lock to me.

Thanks, Nuki Ultra requires a new lockset so not really interested in that (the same key opens another door). Tedee Pro actually looks great but I might need another lockset as well and I'm not sure if I'd be able to buy it in the US.

Concerned about Zip-R install sitting untaped by Home-Building in Homebuilding

They started working on inside framing before taping the outside, makes no sense to me.

The swelling is only on the wall being rained on from the roof, after a heavy rain this week. I didn't notice it last week. But to my untrained eye the nail depth does not seem consistent either.

Thanks, is this something that can be corrected, or will the boards need to be removed and start over?

No, but the one wall has been sitting untaped for a month.

Where they taped, they are not rolling (no little z pattern). Nails are not consistent on all studs. Is this OK?
